Amir Mansour at CW(hypothetical)

Would Mansour win a title at CW?

  1. One time titleist if given the right opportunity

  2. Unified champion

  3. Falls just short due to politics

  4. Doesn't come close not unlike his HW run

What if Mansour campaigned at CW for his comeback run instead of HW? Could he have picked up a strap? Obviously he's on the smaller side of heavyweights and would have little issue making the weight. I think there would have been many interesting fights for Hardcore at CW. What do you guys think? Does he snag a title if give the right opportunity, does he go above and beyond to become a unified champion or does he fall short like at HW? I lean towards him potentially winning a belt if given the right fight and stylistically matches up very well with pre Usyk, Gassiev, Breidis crop. I think if he could lure YPH or Ramirez into the ring he would have a very good chance at winning gold. Huck, Lebedev and Diablo less likely with Drozd probably being the absolute worst matchup for him. Thoughts?

    Nah. He was too crude.
I really liked him, but he would likely not have gotten to a title at 200lbs. Going down in weight would have helped him.

At heavyweight, he fought a lot of stiff and slow big guys. His size was beneficial to him, at least in some cases.

But this is Kassi at his best:

And here fights an actual Cruiserweight.

He deserved the nod against Cunningham though. Slow count and all. He should have gotten the win against Washington.

You don't think he could clip someone like Ramirez or a chinny guy like YPH? Like I said I think it wouldn't be easy for him but given the right opportunity? He absolutely would have a solid chance against certain guys. Ramirez especially towards the end of his run was very beatable and YPH as we all know very well was a coddled glass jawed fraud.

YPH was no fraud nor was he that chinny. He would have boxed Mansour`s ears off.

However I agree with you on Emilio, I think Mansour could have beaten him.
But he could have just as easily beaten Stiverne or Martin.

On second thought, Mansour would have had more options at Cruiserweight. I just forgot how many champions we have had in the weight class. There are a lot of good matchups for Mansour.
At heavyweight the belts have been mostly held by unified champions.
Cruiserweight has had guys like: Wlodarczyk, Kalenga, Lebedev, Shumenov, Afolabi, Huck and Emilio Ramirez. No way does Mansour loose to all of them.

But I don´t think going down in weight would have helped him from a technical point. For an old heavyweight, he was damn fast. Faster than Washington and Breazeale. And CW his speed would not have been all that.

He was a fraud not in the sense that he was unskilled or not world class but that he was coddled by his handlers. He could outbox Mansour but if he got clipped it would probably be over. His chin was pure grade-a Cubano China.

Yeah definitely more options that's why with the right matchup I think he'd win gold. Definitely has a shot against Stiverne - Martin I really don't think is anywhere near as bad as a lot of people seem to think he is. Appalling showing from AJ aside he's always shown decent ability. Definitely better than Washington or Breazeale.

Yeah I see your point with his speed at HW somewhat benefiting him against lower grade and sluggish contenders but against the elite it wouldn't.make.a lick of difference so at his natural weight he would probably be less handicapped overall as he would still be skilled enough to mix it up at world level and his power would certainly be a factor - Speed would be gone but against certain guys it wouldn't matter.

Thanks for tagging me! I am following the forum but not post as much as before. In my opinion, nowdays Mansour at CW would struggle against the fast paced fighters, who would definitely outpoint him. I really don't see how he would beat Dorticos or Briedis.

About the title shot a few years back, the division was really bad. The whole division had a lack of competition and it would have not surprised me if Mansour captured a belt. The easiest route would've been against Ramirez for sure.

If Mansour was not 10 years in jail, he would've achieved a lot.

Right now at his age and stringently tested for PED's? Are you ****ing serious? This is one of the all-time worst questions I have ever seen. He is going to get ****ing mollywhopped pal, even by a fighter outside the top 150.

Dude, you needtoqualify as more than a bichmade pussee before you start telling people to do things and give orders. Only notable thing about you is you're the rare joke from Massachusetts. If you have an issue pm and id love to meet for "coffee" or some other obscure hippie bull****.

How about the late 2000s-mid 2010s crop?
