He will be 33 years old fight night. The smaller fighters tend to not age as well. He's also been inactive for well over 1 year as well. These could be major factors.
He's not 33 til February. @CST80 does this make him an Aquarius? Go look at Mannys, Floyds, Rigos, JMM, Sergio Martinez, Calzaghe etc resumes from early to mid 30s.. they got some of their best career wins & performances at that stage. Inactivity will be a slight factor but I don't think he will slipped that much yet..
Ring rust in media is assumed date of boxer's last fight. However training camps and especially pre fight training camps are intense, it is not ring rust. From another point: yeah, looks he is too small for this weight class, also maybe too much fights already done ( ammy + pro ).
He relies on ring IQ. That will never fade or disappear. If he relied on his reflexes or handspeed like Roy Jones did then it would be a concern going forward but there's nothing to suggest that he is starting to fade. A fighter like him can switch game plans 3 or 4 times in a round.
Is Loma taller than Teo? He is listed at 5’7 but the picture of them side by side on ESPN shows he is almost 2 inches taller than Teo. They are standing shoulder to shoulder.
It’s on ESPN so don’t know if I can paste link. I’ll try. https://www.espn.com/boxing/story/_...henko-teofimo-lopez-title-bout-jeopardy-money
What the hell is Lopez much smaller than I thought? I thought he was like 5’9”-5’10”, **** me. **** all that height and reach advantage bs then, if there is one it’ll be negligible. Loma just needs to take away any sense of timing Teo is trying to establish which I feel he’ll have a knack of being good at.
