Let's wait and see whether Ruiz manages another good win, before we assume him to be some head to head monster.

You don't need to be a H2H monster to beat Layne.

No, but Layne beat some very good fighters.

He was not a one hit wonder.

Lol fat think he was 230? Oh just watched Brion v Layne first time scored it 6-3 For Layne (missed a round) could def see it being a draw but not Layne losing.

Ruiz has taken out AJ and Dimetrenko, fought to a dead heat against Parker. Beat Liakhovich and Austin too.

Calling him a 1 hit wonder seems very unreasonable. I think he's achieved more than Layne tbh

I don't think that Dimitrenko, Liakovich or Austin were anywhere near world level when Ruiz beat them.

They were washed up name fighters and nothing more.

That leaves us with the Parker fight, which was a world class performance, but we are still left with the problem that he lost.

Yes as of this moment, he is a one hit wonder.

He still has the chance to change that of course!

EDIT : I originally thought this thread featured JOHN Ruiz not ANDY Ruiz. Sorry.

Dempsey was no less than disgusted by Layne's physical strength and his effort in training.

Well are we taking Layne at his worst or best? Because we can use 280 pound Ruiz if that’s the case. Layne was never good at training and only got worse the more money he got (that’s my guess money and women)

    On the Brion fight
Joe Lee for the Brooklyn Daily Eagle scored it 6-4 for Layne
Gene Ward for the Daily News scored it 5-3-2 For Layne
