Really wish Jofre had faced Becerra for the title. Jofre would have definitely won by KO, but Becerra would have further enhanced his bantam resume.
Yeah, would have been better but in fairness, Eloy Sanchez absolutely destroyed Becerra. Becerra was a damn good fighter though (as was Halimi). I wish there was Caldwell-Halimi I footage out there. The first fight sounded great but the second a total dud. It’s a shame there’s not much Becerra film out there. Great fighter to watch.
I don't think Becerra would have much chance against who I would consider the "Big 3" at bantam: Jofre, Zarate, and Olivares. But I wonder how he'd matchup against guys like level of say Rose, Chandler, Pintor, ect.
I was thinking of making a thread on this myself. Great little scrap. Like a mini Basilio/DeMarco at times. Hard leather being thrown pretty much non stop. Halimi could really bang, too. He’s one that slipped my radar over the years it seems, because his career was pretty impressive on the whole. Hopefully more footage surfaces of both.
Hopefully. What I'll say is right now is probably the best YouTube has ever been in terms of full fight library. I think the pandemic has had a lot to do with that. People just have had more time on their hands being home to upload old fights.
