Not so long back, both were unbeaten champ s and perhaps by some, unbeatable.
Now, a draw and a loss later, things have changed.
Question is, who was most overrated? Iyo?

Golovkin is arguably still unbeaten at an age when he is old in boxing terms. Wilder always looked like he was going to get creamed by the first high level fighter he faced and Fury proved that to be true.

I don't recall wilder fans claiming he was some sort of hall of famer or that he'd easily beat guys with records 10x better than his own. Sure there was the occasional rabid fanboy who thought he was the goat but you get that with any famous boxer nowadays.

There is no reasoning with Golovkin fans. The excuses written for him are more impressive than his actual resume.

Some Golovkin fans over rated Golovkin, many media outlets and some Wilder fans over rated Wilder.

Golovkin's resume does lack a little lustre in quality to be fair, though I believe champs like Sergio M avoided him.
GGG has an official loss and a draw, both controversial. No one stopped him.
Wilder received a draw first around vs Fury, fortunately in my view and was then hammered by an improved Fury. Wilder's resume is pretty average for a man who held the WBC title five years.

    Wilder was more over rated.

Wilder's resume makes GGG's look like Harry Greb's.

GGG has got wins over Lemieux, Geale, Jacobs, Derevyanchenko, Brook and Canelo (don’t care about bs cards). If it’s not great, it’s very damn good. Having Martinez, Barker, Cotto and Sturm duck him also didn’t help. He also beat top 10 guys like Proksa, Macklin, Murray, Stevens and Monroe Jr. so all in all pretty damn solid.

You serious ?? Wilder fans had him coming out against proven atg’s on top, loads thought he only had to touch fighters of the past and they’d be a sleep. Fighters avoided prime G, whereas Wilder avoided any risk. They are incomparable

Golovkin had a much better opposition between 2015 and 2017.

In addition, his draw and his defeat are controversial while Wilder was martyred by Fury in the rematch and should have lost the first fight. In my eyes Golovkin is 42-0 and Wilder 42-2.

They can be assessed now, Wilder was never the best in his division, questions needed answering and we got them with the fury fight

One's rated the #1 contender in the world the other's ranked #3; what's wrong with any of that?
