Do you think Inoue could be considered better than Ricardo Lopez one day? I think beating Casimero and Nery would be a good start.

Inoue has a lot of time to keep improving and building up his resume. He already has some good names and has gotten titles in 3 weight classes. Who knows, if he does remain unbeaten before he retires then he has a chance to be seen as “greater”. Roman Gonzalez has already achieved much more than Lopez in my opinion.

As a huge fan and admirer of Finito’s style he gets severely overrated over the years, in terms of achievements and abilities. Outside of his beautiful boxing skills his resume lacks quality wins despite his “dominance” over a division that’s pretty much a barren wasteland. His best wins are Hideyuki Ohashi, Saman Sorjaturong, Alex Sanchez, Rosendo Alvarez (who he should have lost to in the first fight), and Ratanopol Sor Vorapin. Let’s be honest, other than looking magnificent against uninspired competition in his division his resume is weak. He had the size and frame to move up in weight and fight much better guys like Mark Johnson or Yuri Arbachakov but chose not to.

Lopez is definitely a beautiful fighter to watch. Best small man though? That’s really pushing it. Guys like Jimmy Wilde, Chocolatito, Jung Koo Chang, Miguel Canto, Fighting Harada and others have a case as being the best small men over Lopez.

Lol. Finito was the best 105 pounder in history. Hardly the best small guy period. And that aint saying much, as 105 is the weakest division in history.

Eder Jofre should hold the distinction as the best guy in history below 122.

Can’t believe I forgot to mention Jofre. He definitely has that argument as the best small man below 122. Magnificent boxer and a much more rounded all round fighter than Lopez IMO.

He's already out-stripped Lopez on all fronts. It's not even particularly close.

He isn't remotely close to the best small man ever.

To answer the thread, yeah probably. He actually already might be. Skillwise? Doubtful, but he's clearly more talented physically.

He’s already beaten him for resume. Skills wise he’s damn close and a better puncher to boot.

Skillwise, Inoue is there if not above. His only weakness is a slightly leaky defense. He rolls a ton of shots. Nonito just caught him with 3 haymakers over 12 rounds of boxing, so people think Inoue was taken deep when he won comfortably.
