Personally, I think this is a great style clash even though they both share a lot of similar traits. Thoughts welcome
Crawford by KO. I don't rank JTT that highly. He loses to the Top 6 in the division — Pac, Crawford, Danny, Thurman, Porter, Spence. Postol's power was bothering him.
After Taylor becomes the undisputed World Jr.WW Champion, he will move up in weight to 147. At that time, Crawford will fade and get his ass kicked. Crawford is getting older and older now. But if they both fight each other next year, I will pick Crawford to beat Taylor by decisions.
Bud's getting up there in years, but as of right now he kicks Josh's ass pretty badly. Prograis was sharp shooting Taylor, and badly swelled him. Nuff said. In another 2 years or so, when Bud is faded, maybe the odds turn in Josh's favor. But right now his odds aren't good.
Crawford is clearly elite despite the hollow resume. And he did beat Postol wide whereas Postol took JTT deep.
In just 17 fights Taylor has unified two belts (WBA and IBF) Has beaten 4 former or current world champions in 17 fights to Crawford's 7 in 36 fights. Crawford didn't even beat 1 world champion until his 23 fight Deserves a place in the P4P top 10 rankings He equalled the 36-0 Crawford's best win in just his 13th fight And Taylor was only 12-0 when he fought Postol Had only fought one world class opponent before (a past prime Vazquez) Had taken part in zero world title fights Had never been past 9 rounds before Was giving away 4'' in reach And would've weighed about the same as Postol Whereas, conversely, when Crawford fought Postol he was 28-0 Had fought 6 or 7 world class opponents It was his 7th world title fight Had been into the 10th or further 5 times including the full 12 twice Had a slight reach advantage over the Ukrainian (Crawford has never once been at a reach disadvantage in any of his fights against world class competition) And had a 5lb weight advantage over Postol And on top of that he spent the entire fight on his bicycle stinking out the joint like he was in against a murderous puncher. JCR was 25-0 when he fought Postol Had fought 3 or 4 world class opponents It was his 5th world title fight Had been 10 round or more four times including going the full 12 three times And was only giving away an inch in reach Taylor has fought more punchers in 17 fights than Crawford has in 36 Baranchyk, Rougarou, Khongsong, and even Davies are all massive punchers Davies KO'd Maurice Hooker in the gym Taylor won a world title in 15th fight and unified two of the belts in his 16th Crawford didn't even win his first world title until his 23rd fight And should Taylor beat JCR in his next fight he will have unified a whole division in just his 18th fight, five fights earlier than Crawford had even won a world title And even more impressive Taylor didn't even take up boxing until he was 15 y/0 Whereas, Crawford and JCR were both 7 y/o when they took up the sport Taylor's last five opponents Khongsong 16-0 (13 KOs) Prograis 24-0 (20 KOs) Baranchyk 19-0 (13 KOs) Martin 22-0 (12 KOs) Postol 29-1 (12 KOs) And he also has wins over these two Davies 15-0 (12 KOs) Vazquez 39-5 (12 KOs) He already did very well against Porter in the gym when he was over in the US and he also bashed up Porter's and Crawford's daddy Ugas during those sessions too, sending him to hospital. And Taylor was just a seven fight novice back then too. Excerpt from a Jan, 2017 article 'Josh Taylor, the fast-rising Edinburgh starlet in the McGuigan stable headed by Carl Frampton, is taking his inspiration and plenty of freely given advice from Scottish legend Ken Buchanan. Taylor, the Commonwealth Games champion, takes on Mexico's Alfonso Olvera on the undercard of the Frampton-Leo Santa Cruz rematch in Las Vegas having knocked out all his first seven professional opponents. There are reports of the light-welterweight seriously troubling former world champion Shawn Porter in sparring here and he says: 'If I can emulate Mr Buchanan by coming back to America and taking world titles home to Scotland I will be very happy.' He has all the tools that a fighter needs.” Of all the opponents he has fought, and that includes a very young Canelo Alvarez, Vazquez says, “Timothy Bradley has been the most outstanding, technically speaking. But the most powerful was actually Josh Taylor.” Put some respeck on Josh Taylor's name This content is protected
Really tough to say, I would favor Crawford 60-40 though. Taylor will have his time, but he has other things to take care of before Crawford enters the mix. The narrative could completely change between then and now. He needs to unify 140 Then move up to 147 (no way he takes Crawford right out of the gate at welter). So he takes a acclimation fight. THEN we can talk Crawford.
Id say Crawford at this moment but people are dismissing Taylor far to easily here Guys world class and a P4P top ten Would not shock me in the slightest if he beat Bud
That's if he decides to take the Crawford route.he could well go after another sanctioning body's champion first. But as you say let's see if he can unify all the belts at 140.
