Tyson Fury is the only current HW to actually beat Johnson when Johnson was a contender, just nobody gave him credit for it. Very funny pressers too.

It's amazing what a joke this sport can be. They're still trying to milk Johnson as a name opponent, it's crazy how long this is going on now. Gassiev was a top Cruiser with HW power, he should be fighting a ranked HW.

He won his last fight by beating the **** out of a Cruiserweight coming in from a long bout of inactivity

Johnson is inspired by Pep, who once won a round without throwing a punch.

Ahh fair. Didn't watch it and haven't paid him much attention. Good for him that he actually fought for once then I guess, I'm used to seeing him shell up for 12 rounds.

Him shelling up might be more use for Gassiev in terms of a comeback fight. But for the sake of learning about where he’s at I do hope Johnson comes in with ambition.

Not many would be brave enough to take on North America's slickest fighter after 27 months of inactivity

Why? He's a Cruiserweight moving up in weight, coming off of a 2 year layoff. Seems like a nice guy, without even a hint of a malicious bone in is body. I don't he's jumping for joy either, but it's the best his handlers could probably do on short notice, and it'll be an excellent measuring stick to see where he stands in the division. Sure KJ will probably lose, but we at least get to find out if Murat has the body to be a force or he's going to belly flop.

He came in with a glass chin and that's always a risk. Gassiev though IMO is a whole different level of fighter.

Maybe I'm becoming too much of a grump I'm a little unexcited to watch Johnson lay on the ropes for ten rounds and let gassiev just work away

I'd kind of prefer a guy try to throw and go down in a blaze of glory

    Maybe I'm being too harsh

Well, in Kevin's defense, he has produced a few solid showings in recent years, he was scrappy in the Pulev and Wach matches, and pulled the upsets against Pianeta adn Hernandez, but yeah, I have a feeling it'll be another one of those Bakole, Dubois, Hrgovic lay on the ropes deals he's famous for. You I totally get your apprehension, but like I said, we don't truly know how good of a heavy Gassiev will be, and how good he'll be after 2 1/4 years off. So at least it'll be a good measuring and interesting stick.
