It's a negative topic but we can all make it a polite and interesting discussion. I have two nominations below, if you disagree that's fine, this sport would be boring if we agreed all the time:

    Foul Pole
    Boston Tar Baby

Johnny Dundee was known as the "Scotch Wop." This would be far too much for today's Snowflake generation to handle.

There was a skilful Welsh lightweight of mixed race in the fifties and sixties called Dave Hughes who went by the name of D arkie Hughes, a handle he obviously approved of, how times change!
He was a skilful operator and ex ABA Champion.
He waited quite a long time to get his shot at the British Title and when he did he had the unfortunate experience to run into a fired up Dave Charnley and was obliterated in 40 seconds, a record for a British title fight.

The Jew Killer is pretty bad. Langford's was the first to come to mind though.

I highly doubt names like Kid Chocolate or The Brown Bomber would be accepted today. Not if they were given in the manner that they were back then, anyway.

I could probably get this thread locked just by posting Boxrec links of some of the black fighters from way back. The stage names of that time in general were very lacking in the creativity department.

Muhammad Ali could toss them out, with the worst probably being "The Gorilla", which I've read transferred from promotion of a sporting event to bullying on the playground toward Joe Frazier's kids.

I seem to remember Roger Mayweather was called the "Mexican Assassin" at one point because of his win streaks over Mexican fighters. And then Julio Cesar Chavez came along....

Pacquiao was also called "The Mexicutioner" as well, until JMM came to the picture.

Never understood why these kinds of nicknames were even allowed to be used by boxing writers.

    Because they sell tickets.
Chavez blew Mayweather out in 2; why would anybody care about a rematch? But Mayweather beats some Mexican fighters, the Black Mamba becomes the Mexican Assassin and you pack the Forum. Everyone got paid and nobody took it personally.
