Hi there and welcome to the forum. I have had a bag a couple years which I punched on regularly until the past several months, so I would consider myself experienced on the bag, although I don't actually know how good I looked since I never had anyone take videos of me. As for your work on the bag, I thought you looked pretty good. Very good form, decent speed, and good movement. The only suggestion I had was to put more power into your punches, unless you were not practicing that in the video. I thought you looked especially sharp and fast in the second video.
Thanks, well idk, i guess i need to learn what type of skill i want to improve when working on heavy bag, i just asked my cousin to film these 2 videos so I can post to you guys and get some help and tips before i join boxing gym, thank you again!
My tip is get yourself to a boxing gym, learn correctly at the outset from the trainers, perhaps not response you are seeking but is the way to go. Word to the wise this is in the wrong part of the forum, you are possibly at start of your boxing journey not a classic yet, you got a few more years before you get there
Your welcome. My only problem was with the lack of power in the punching. Of course, it depends on how you view the heavy bag. I'm of the Joe Frazier school of thought which is that the heavy bag is almost completely for the use of getting stronger and tougher. If you use it multi-purpose that's ok. I've learned to get along with what I've got (which isn't much). Do you have a bigger and longer bag though? The one you were on primarily looks difficult to land on powerfully.
i think you look good. I would try and pump that jab with a bit more force. I think you should join a boxing gym since you seem to have good potential. Good luck, looking forward to updates.
Besides this smaller one, the one in the back, the longer and bigger is the only one more in the gym, and that bag is a lot harder and weighs a lot more, so i suppose for power you recommend the other one?
Looks pretty good. I would only say be careful with those uppercuts. Throwing uppercuts, and hooks for that matter, on the heavybag is a good way to mess up your hands and wrists especially for a beginner
Yup, you're right i had a lil bit of a pain after, prolly because of uppercuts and i did not knew how to put bandages
Hell yeah. I found that out on day one. I threw a big left uppercut on the side of my bag, and the pain knifed thru my wrist. Then I threw one with the right hand. And you know what I did next? I went back in the house.
Try working both up top and down below fairly equally. I used to pound on the top all the time, and now it's all soft, and now I pound down below all the time, which is SUPER hard, and it will never be soft.
