Does anyone really wanted to see Holm get booted in the face by Amanda Nunes again? It's not like the first fight was competitive. I don't mean to be a downer here, since that was probably Holm's second best win in MMA. But if Aldana and Pena had won their fights, the UFC would have two new contenders at 135. Instead the attractive Venezuelan lady get's choked to sleep by GDR who has two losses to Nunes, and Aldana get's outclassed by aging Holm. The only way I can see Nunes vs. Holm II happening is as a co-main to a bigger fight, i.e. Blachowicz vs. Santos II or something like that.
Nunes should not be headlining any PPV cards anyways, so might as well throw the rematch on a big undercard. Both are draws while the fight itself is not. Funny situation there.
Yup. She probably would do well on regular ESPN, but she does not do that great on PPV. Well, she only has headlined 3 PPV´s, but her drawing power is pretty clear: - UFC 207 Nunes vs. Rousey - 1,100,0003. - UFC 215 Nunes vs. Shevchenko 2 - 100,0004. - UFC 224 Nunes vs. Pennington - 85,000 I would be surprised if they let her headline another PPV card. If they did, then that means they are making money off of her PPV´s. And that they likely had nothing better to offer at the time. UFC has PPV schedule, and it can be hard to fill those cards with quality/money fights. So they sometimes do cards that have just champions on them, so at least on paper they are offering something(the something also doesn´t cost them as much, so making a profit is easier).
Holly looked good in that fight. She went through a period where she was gun shy and wasn't throwing hands. She went at it in that fight and foot work was on point. I wouldn't mind a rematch. Nunes will win but Holly can keep it interesting using the same movement instead of standing there waiting to be belted.
