Name some top-level fighters throughout history who you feel were underrated for their punching power. Some of mine: Leonard McCallum Toney Hopkins Holyfield Ali
Manny Pacquiao at 147. Nobody considers him to be a huge puncher despite the fact that he's hurt/dropped almost every guy he's fought at 147. He's in the Top 3 for single shot power.
Paulie Malignaggi, and I ain´t even joking. His lack of power came from his poor technique, which was a result of his bad hands. I think it´s safe to say that that poor technique also hurt his hands. But he got most guys respect and snapped back many, many heads with his sharp punches. I remember Hatton just completely overwhelmed him and well Khan pretty much schooled him(compare what Khan did in that fight to the things he did in his later 140 run, and you see he regressed as a boxer). Malignaggi. with proper technique, would have been a decent puncher.
Sugar Ray Robinson Ezzard Charles Both known as P4P greats and elite stylists who can out-box people, but both of them KOed iron chinned ATGs. Robinson is a top five P4P puncher, and Charles was as dangerous as any light-heavyweight in history.
Pretty sure Sugar Ray Robinson was known as a huge puncher considering he has over 100 KOs to his name.
Good shout out for Hopkins. Wasn't known for a banger but when he ambushed people he put some sting on his shots.
