Am I the only one who thinks Foreman wins by KO? Lennox had that great jab and was better technically, but Foreman was farily tall himself at 6'4, had a decent jab, a superior chin and power. Yes, the heavyweights were smaller in the 70's when Foreman was at his peak (pre-Ali) but the guys didn't weight train back than. I think the fight would come down to how disciplined Lennox fought, but I still think Foreman would catch him and knock him out sometime in the later rounds. Any thoughts?

Guys did weight train, as far back as Jim Jeffries and probably before.

ANyway, I pick Lewis. Foreman is easy to hit and has no real head movement. His guard is not tecnhically good and he doesn't move off punches so he is available for combination punching.

His own shots are wide, and Lewis has tidy feet and is a great in-fighter, and great at timing stepping inside. Have a look at what Lyle did to Foreman and have a think what a composite puncher like Lewis might acheive.

yeah, I think Foreman would have caught him. He was pretty relentless. Even if Lewis wins, it's got to be the hardest fought victory in his career.

I actually think Lewis will show up well prepared and well focused, given Foreman's reputation going into this fight.

Lewis is too big and too skilled for Foreman. He also hits equally hard.

    Lewis by TKO.

Its like I said though man, Lennox was a superior boxer but his chin was his achilles heel. If Lennox came in over confident like he was known to do sometimes, Foreman would make him pay. Foreman fought Lyle right after his loss to Ali and was coming off almost a year and a half lay off....and he still knocked Lyle out. Best heavyweight fight I've ever seen though. Remember, I was talking about an undefeated Foreman, pre-Ali if you read my original post. I think conifdence played a role in Foreman's decline in the 70's before he retired.

tough one, because george could really punch, whilst lennox's chin could be his weakness as previously noted.

George foreman himself rates lewis as one of the best heavies ever, and when offered a fight with lewis he wanted no part of it.

Had he been prime at the time i still think lewis would out last him and stop him. Lets face it when ali beat him he was already on the slide and you did say a prime lewis. So you are kind of contradicting yourself

Yes foreman destroyed frazier but wouldn't lewis do the same.

    Resume to resume

would you pick Foreman to beat every fighter on lewis's, now switch it around would you pick lewis too beat all of foremans 70's victims ? :good

Foreman at his prime was brutal and applied the kind of pressure Lewis has never come up against. Even though Ali beat prime Foreman he had to take a ton of full on power shots to the head and body that less durable fighters would not have been able to withstand.

Lewis is my favourite heavyweight of all time but I have always thought the combination of Foreman's size, strength, physical style, jab and sheer relentless power would be too much for Lennox. I see Lennox doing well early, even dropping Foreman early but at some point Foreman will muscle his way in and start punishing Lewis to the body and stopping him in the middle rounds.

BAD BAD move that fight in Africa------Foreman was beaten before he climbed into the ring-----George left a big part of his mental strenghth in the jungle----in a normal boxing environment he would have cleaned up Lewis and Ali IMO...:smoke

If Lewis came in with that type of attitude, of course he would get startched, but he almost certainly wouldn't.

Lewis does have a weaker chin than your average great HW and Foreman hits hard enough but he is not a great composite puncher. His punches are wide, his straight shots are slow, he often underused what was a pretty good jab.

Sure Lyle Foreman wasn't prime but Lewis is literally 3-4 classes superior to Lyle in composite punching terms - and he's hard to hit and Foreman is easy to hit. I'm actually pretty astounded that people pick Foreman here.

    Puncher's chance, that's it.

Foreman would take out the shaky-chinned Lewis quicker than McCall and Rahman did. If ordinary fighters like those guys can do it, an ATG puncher like Foreman should be able to blow Lewis out right quick!
