I am not surprised. Deontay realized this won't end well for him. It's like we all knew: He's already retired for good.
I'd love to see the 3rd asap but I don't think it will happen this year. Smh I'm not interested at all seeing both of them vs tune ups thats BS, complete ****ing BS
Arum said it on a talksport interview tonight that it’s about to expire the deadline for the fight to be made and fury is wanting to fight in December so it’s likely to be off
Wilder is broken, a third fight is completely pointless - the bum is finished. Let’s see AJ - Fury next year.
In another interview today, Fury co-promoter Frank Warren said more or less the same. He doubts Fury-Wilder III will happen, but Fury will fight someone in December.
It’s a death sentence for wilders career, who would want to fight him now? No belt, dangerous with no reward doesn’t have enough following to be a big pay day. letting the deadline pass has absolutely ruined his opportunity but on a positive note he has just erased his weak mention in boxing history when you think it’s straight off the back of the worst excuse in boxing history
Get a grip, the first fight could have gone either way. Fury landed a handful more punches over the entire fight, & got knocked down twice. The second fight was all Fury.
Polls consistently show that 85% to 95% of viewers disagree with you. Do another if you like. Rarely is a decision in a big fight so well agreed upon to be a victory for one side. As for the third fight being abandoned, thank goodness. Every cloud, so to speak. The only question now is who for a tune-up, and my long-standing belief is that it will be Kabayel, Joshua, Pulev, Usyk, Parker, Povetkin, Gassiev and Whyte are all booked. The only other A-lister is Ruiz, who is not ready, and not really a sell-able commodity until some re-builidng. And Hunter. More on that. I do not think he will take a retread like Washington, Breazele, Ortiz, Martin, or Rivas. You can laugh, but I think Price and Bakole hit too hard to be a tune-up. My guess is: Kabayel- Promotional ties make it easy to book. Ranked and credible due to the Chisora win. A good fighter, but has a skill set that will not trouble Fury at all. or Hunter- He'll fight anybody. And due to being small and light-hitting, will have no chance at all. My further suggestions are (keeping in mid this is going to be a tune-up): Romanov- The Bronze Bomber's other daddy is undefeated, and too small, old and fat to be a threat. Milas- He's got some buzz, and fits right in with the Wallin/Schwarz mode of being a big and undefeated but unheralded Euro fighter whose not that good. Huck- He's out there, and a former cruiser champ. For a tune-up, it will be a bit of a feather in the cap. Breidis- Think about it. They call Breidis' people and ask him if he wants to take a long-shot fight for the title. What has he got to lose? He will make fistfulls of money, and no one would hold it against him if he lost, because Fury is so much bigger. Meanwhile, because he is a terrific cruiserweight champ, the fight is a bit intriguing. Charr- They can dig him up and Fury can "unify" with the WBA "regular" champion. Just some ideas.
The December date is very bad for boxing in the US. Too much NFL and college football that people will watch instead of a fight nobody cares about PLUS no live gate. Doesn't make business sense. And it can't be moved ahead in Christmas season. Have it in April outdoors somewhere. Even 15,000 butts in seats is better than none.
3rd fight is pointless, Fury won both fights, out boxed him the first time, beat him up and stopped him the 2nd time. 3rd time Fury will just beat him so bad he'll quit. So I hope it's true that this pointless 3rd fight doesn't happen. Fury/Joshua is the fight everyone really wants, that at least is competitive on paper and will give us a undisputed champion again.
I think it would be better for Wilder to get someone else to fight and work on his sharpness and experience. Waiting helps him change the dynamics of the 2nd fight.
