Terrible. He would get knocked out. He wouldn't even beat anyone in the top 20. A puncher's chance, but doesn't have the technique to deliver it against a good boxer.
Right now he’d be a journeyman in boxing. I watch both, trained in both, MMA and boxing, so giving you my honest answer. He might have world class power, but that’s about it. There are too many adjustments he would have to make to acclimated to 12 rounds against the pinnacle fighters. He lunges too much and even Wilder who is known for longing knows he could box off the back foot for 3-4 rounds, let Ngannou get tired and then blast him. At this point Ngannou is too old and too many years away from challenging a world class boxer at their sport. Best to stay world class at his. It would also be true vice versa so I don’t say any of this with any vitriol or ego. Two different sports and they should just leave it at that.
He’d get destroyed. I like Ngannou and he is very good in his own sport, but in boxing any heavyweight in the top 50 would beat Ngannou.
So yes, I agree. Wilder wouldn’t waste his time. I’m just pointing out what the skill disparity would be. Even Wilder who’s boxing skills aren’t well regarded on this board could outbox Ngannou if he wanted.
I'm an MMA fan and can tell you that how he is now, he'd get wrecked. If he trained a year or two with a top trainer, just boxing, we might see something.
