Ngannou vs Rozenstruik is a perfect example of why he would get destroyed at the elite pro boxing level.
Not really. He has made a fool of himself in several fights. It´s that he eventually finds and opening and makes an adjustment. In MMA, Ngannou is way more precise than Wilder is in boxing. Francis is a sharp counterpuncher who lands witch precision. Or sometimes he just bumrushes guys like Wilder: This content is protected I ****ing love watching his fights. He either sets up a perfect counter and scores a highlight reel KO, or he just goes ape****.
Wilder doesn't get wild until he hurts his man. Otherwise he's a patient sniper. You're overrating Ngannou and underrating Wilder here. Ngannou also can counter but he doesn't have great timing or distance control as shown by Stipe so he's not that good at it, especially in boxing terms. Stipe is the only other good boxer in the weight class and he made Ngannou look like a bum.
Fully on board on the Wilder part, and I was trying to state that he just goes windmilling at random. As a patient Wilder is, he takes a long time to finally land that right hand. Unless he is fighting complete scrubs that is. Ngannou has fantastic timing, but like you said; he lacks the skills. What good is timing when someone is constantly feinting you out of position? Ngannou has improved a bit, but in pure boxing terms, he is extremely limited. He does actually very little to set up his offense.
He's heavy-handed but is very stiff and has poor stamina & output. Miocic would do better, he is a former Golden Gloves champion but I don't think he'd get past most regional level HWs today considering he's not trained or conditioned for 12 rounds..
I'm not sure about his timing, he kinda just blitzes in response to an attack and that's his countering style. He's just wild explosiveness. It suits MMA because at least there are other factors for these fighters to take into account and most of them aren't very good strikers. Thing is all he does is box in MMA so I feel someone should honestly just go for the chokes and holds, he's not likely to be able to do much about a man with a vice grip on his neck.
Yeah Miocic is actually a good boxer and I feel he has a much better chance than the likes of Ngannou at succeeding in the sport.
I've just watched back his finishes. They're almost all just punishing the MMA fighter's tendency to overcommit to their strikes. It's decent timing but mostly just poor striking on his opponents' part. I don't rate his ability highly. He's like an even worse Ajagba. Stiff, not that fast, powerful but limited. Honestly I don't know why he hasn't progressed more as a boxer, it's most of what he does. He need to be a bit cleverer with his striking. His style is just blitzing if they get close.
I mean, can you blame him? Dude takes out everyone with a single shot. He has an eye for openings but does not seem to know how to himself create those openings. We might get a Miocic rematch this year, so it will be really interesting to see if he has improved and by how much.
