Fury, I think it's safe to say about equally idolizes Ali and Tyson.

In fact, I think the initial Wilder-Fury beef was triggered when Wilder insulted Tyson in the press, and Fury to exception to it.

He's also said that before about Carl Thompson. I don't know if the word idol was used, but he said how he looked up to him for his heart and his determination. There's obviously the Manchester connection and I think it was after being a bit derogatory towards CAT while insulting Haye.

I think he also called him the Manchester Miracle Matthew. Although that could have been someone else.

I find Roy and Sanchez the most interesting one, because you'd expect Roy to say Leonard as his idol.

But no, he always says Sal Sanchez.

Liston and Charles both idolized Joe Louis.

Tyson has cited a whole bunch of guys as being big influences on him. In addition to Duran, he was big on Ali, Dempsey, Liston, and Pedroza.

Hamed has been named as an influence by a lot of modern British fighters including Brook and Fury.

In addition to Robinson, Ali also named Louis and Charles as fighters that influenced him.

Ismael Laguna inspired Duran and I'm sure a whole host of other Panamanians. Pedroza, Marcel & Lujan from that time, but I imagine he also influenced guys like Zapata, Moreno and Concepcion, but they probably grew up with Duran looming over them instead.

You see a lot of Laguna's style and moves in Marcel, Pedroza, and Lujan.

Exactly my thoughts. Pedroza too. I can definitely see it in Zapata and Moreno, perhaps with a bit of Sweet Pea.

It wouldn't surprise me at all if Panama Al Brown fought like a prototypical Laguna, and that he was an inspiration for Ismael. Outside of Duran, Panama seem to have quite a theme with their stylists.

James Toney based his style off of Walcott, Charles & Moore - who he looked up to, as well as studying & watching extensive footage of them when he was coming up as a fighter.

Who did Chavez idolize? Cause i know he and Duran have a friendly rivalry (its not serious, they're friends) and Chavez said he would have beaten Duran, to which Duran laughed and said something to the effect of "He knows I'm his champion."

In other words, "He knows im his idol."

Juan Antonio Lopez mentored Chavez. Chavez grew up idolizing him.
