240lbs. An in shape, motivated Ruiz at that weight beats anyone not named Tyson Fury.

Ppl here talking about Ruiz getting down to 220 or even CW are trolling. They and we all know better.

He stopped a big, talented HW champ weighing 260+ looking like a tub of lard. The 280+ rematch weight was ridiculous and it showed he has eating issues.

He's never going to be or look chiseled. His best weight might be ~240... if he can ever get there. At 240 he's still a good sized HW, even for this era, he'll have high end stamina, and be able to cut off the ring better. He needs to get in a few quality fights soon - at least one vs. a top 10 opponent.

He is still obese at that weight and his footwork takes a hit because of it.

Andy Ruiz is likely a cruiserweight. But he has a speed advantage at heavyweight and also he has a granite chin, so he can compete at the weight. IMO Ruiz should be around 230 lbs.

He fights based on his size and weight so I don’t think he really needs to drop to cruiser even if he could. I think his size and frame work for him at heavy. He beat Anthony at 260? Max he should drop would be 240 if was even worth the effort. As far as his health and longevity, probably down to 200 though.

I honestly dont think he can get there

His footwork is flat anyway, dropping 20 pounds wont help too much

    Id say around 250-255.

Hes not gonna get lower than that realistically, I doubt he'll even make that again. Hes always gonna be overweight but tbf he has good stamina, hand speed, chin, power at that weight but carries enough to be competitive with the big guys.

I think against Parker he had the speed at 255 but wasn't as heavy handed. At 268lbs when he dismantled the bodybuilder and Dimitrenko he had the speed and power to stop those bums. But at 282lbs he was just too slow and sluggish. The 260 range seems his optimum fighting weight, if he came in below 250, I think some of those punches Joshua caught him with puts him to sleep. He's not known to be a mover, so he uses his slob like conditioning as his advantage. It's very hard to move a short heavy guy like that, with low centre of gravity. David Tua was the same.

I see no reason why he can't shed most of that fat.

At his height, why does he need to be more than 16 stone? (Povetkin weight) - Around 220?

    200

    He's a natural cruiserweight.

But 225 would be okay for him at heavyweight.

Anyone saying Cruiser is a spastic and haven't got the first clue about what they're talking about.

Yeah, but the question isn’t whether Ruiz has the discipline or not. Can he mentally get to x weight or not?

I certainly agree that we’ll never see Ruiz around the 220 to 230 mark. But I reckon that would be his optimum weight at heavyweight.

He’d have greater speed, footwork and moment, and greater stamina. And given just how overweight he is, those improvements would likely be vast.

He gave Joshua a whooping that first go around, so whatever that weight was seemed good enough.
