Bit odd announcing a big venue without assurances that there will be any fans attending. If no fans can attend this will get switched surely to save money. The PPV price should be the same especially as it’s just before Christmas and it’s only Pulev.
Anyone see the London Palladium last week? I think Hearn is hoping he can get 2/3k in there at least, all “distanced”. Anyway, it adds to an exciting month of boxing. It’s Fury vs TBC the week before so hopefully straight after the fight we get an announcement on the Joshua v Fury mega fight in 2021.
I doubt he's paid anything remotely near what the venue would usually command. In fact if I were him I'd ask for it at cost or near to it. This way they get a televised event with major publicity and their name and more importantly their sponsors name, is all over it. Something to tell o2 when they ask them what value they're delivering for their money in the post covid world. What's their alternative if Hearn doesn't take it?
Appears the working class crowds cannot be trusted but the theatre mob can by this govt there to make lives better for the upper crust. After what I have seen in Liverpool the previous 3 months and no doubt replicated elsewhere - the govt are probably right to ban crowds until the r figure has been smashed downwards again. Too many people cannot have a good night out without getting absolutely hammered but still remembering to take their lines. Will be very surprised to see any fans in UK sporting venues in 2020 now xmas and new year celebrations are being cancelled. Govt bull and spin will mean 'Lockdowns' will be named something else but the reality is we are more likely to be in lockdown than attending sporting events anytime soon. The light at the end of the tunnel is dimming by the day - depressing times. Hopefully the vaccination appears soon.
I like Pulev but clearly he is the massive underdog in this fight- unless Joshua has forgotten totally how to box over the past year this should be a mid rounds stoppage.
On December 5th old people’s band Squeeze are playing the O2 with 4,700 fans allowed. I’m guessing that’s why Hearn has announced the venue.
This fight feels like a waste of time really. I'd rather see the geordie fight tonight than them two.
