Probably had standing orders to wave it off if Berlanga threw a single big power combo unanswered/without getting backed off and staggered with a counter.

Those who ask for a count, do you know even the rules of the sport you are watching? no standing protection count allowed. There are exceptions to this rule, but I highly doubt today is one of them.

When the referee steps in the guy is completely defenseless, out of his feet and about to get his head torn off. What the ****, that was a good stoppage. What are you talking about? he was standing KO. Quick referee, good referee.

Just watched replay, that was a quick stoppage. Bellows stumbled but it looked like his legs were still under him. The way he was getting hit and not returning fire, the ref did him a favor. Berlanga was throwing bombs! Hope he continues progressing and steps up the opposition.

As the ref my inclination would have been to reward his valiance standing & trading in the first minute with at least allowing him to suffer a clean knockdown first (within reason; if Berlanga had jumped on him and begun landing consecutive shots with Bellows flopping helplessly against the ropes, with only the physics of the ricochet effect preventing him from the mercy of falling, then yeah, dive in and stop it)

Definitely not a horrible stoppage from the perspective of concern for Bellows' health but also felt like they were very eager to preserve the streak.

Let's see Berlanga Lemiuex and see what this 'monster' is saying then.

Berlanga's got some legit badass in him, he's a little cold. Not necessarily a bad person but not just an athlete who chose boxing either.

I know Max get that hate but he rocks that haircut and the stubble beard like very few of these normally not very handsome commentators. I mean, by these standards, my dude is hot as flip. I mean that but I mean that platonically.

He was lucidly defending himself and firing punches back until just a few seconds before those unsteady backward steps into the ropes. Giving him the benefit of the doubt of a brief moment to see if he could tie up and recover isn't unreasonable there.
