Just a terrible gameplan from Loma and his father. it’s a fight, not a dance off. You don’t win fights by not throwing punches.
No he was sharp. Lopez is just big and hits very hard. Lomachencko took way too long to take risks. When he did he got the better of the fight except the 12th which was competitive. He gave away minimum 5 of the first 6 rounds hard to win that way if you don’t stop your opponent. Credit to Lopez who didn’t burn himself out and fought a good game plan. For record I would of been ok with a draw. 119-109 is criminal.
I highly doubt that his father's plan originally were to start in round 8. I doubt it A LOT. A FREAKING LOT. Nobody is that idiot.
It would be an awesome question for an interview with loma. Why so late? what happened? But probably we will never know. EDIT: maybe they miscalculated and thought that they were even in rounds for god knows the reason? I dont know. If lomo said that he won, then it's obvious that they were watching/scoring a delusional fight.
He probably thought he'd gas Lopez out for the back 6 rds of the fight and take over. He looked excellent for the majority of the last 6 rounds but he lost the 12th quite clearly. I'm still stunned by how inactive Loma was the first half of the fight. He's never fought like that before as a pro.
Umm, maybe. He has been slightly overrated because he went thru a bunch of quitters, English lads and Linares and Pedraza. But Teo is leagues above them in terms of power, skills and explosiveness. That's it. Maybe ring rust but, nah, not really.
If Loma was 5'6" and you threw in one more inch on his reach he could have easily won. He ended up in the same situation Rigo was put in, if Loma has the mental fortitude to go on, he should change his PEDs. Drop to 130, 126 & even 122....Rigo was able to recover and he is on the cusp of a super-fight vs Inoue at 118 If Rigo beats Inoue, he becomes an ATG, and gets ranked higher than Loma! Loma should focus on cutting down slowly to 122, taking on easy opposition until he is a solid 122 then go for an ATG long title reign.
I believe it was between round 5 and 6 when they translated what his father said to Loma in the corner. His father told him not rush.
