I stated many times that whoever wins deserves full credit with no excuses. I picked loma by ud I thought he would outbox Lopez. I was wrong and can admit that. Lopez deserves credit he proved everyone wrong and won the fight his future is bright. I hope loma can come back learn from this and rematch Lopez down the road. The better man won tonight. Congrats to Lopez and his fans no excuses.
No excuses at all. This was a super fight where both guys put it all on the line and Lopez just seemed like he wanted it more while Loma was more hesitant and only started to push forward when he knew the fight was slipping away. Congrats to the Takeover. He really walked the talk.
No excuses and no dishonor either, he took a fight very few would have and made it close. Anyone who fights the best will take some losses, the only way to have 20-30+ wins in a row is to be in a very weak era or carefully cherrypick competition. If we want competitive fights we can't write off boxers who lose competitive fights.
This was a match-making disaster for Loma. It's no excuse, he lost fair and square. The point is, he should have never taken this fight.
Lopez looked great and deserves all the praise but if Loma doesn’t wait 8 rounds to turn on the gas, I think he has a very decent chance of beating Lopez.
Loma can eat humble Ukrainian pie tonight. Lopez's said things to sell themselves and the fight, nothing over the top. Loma just had so much contempt and disdain for Lopez. Loma looked down on him like Lopez was worthless for more than a year. I recall seeing Loma with an evil, sneering look many times over in the air of Lopez. Well tonight, Lopez took it to him and showed Loma that he needs to respect his opponent. Tonight, Lopez showed the better game-plan, higher ring IQ, better strategy and fight management. Loma was second best in every category. I'm still in disbelief. Teo Lopez, barely 23 year's old and almost nothing for experience clearly winning tonight... I predicted an early KO win for Loma.
I just read that there's no rematch clause so who knows how long it would take Loma to get one. Father time isn't on his side so he better hope he can get in there with Lopez within the next 12 months or so. He doesn't look as great at 135 lbs as he did at the lighter weights. Even Campbell had some moments against Loma in their fight which raised some red flags IMO on how effective he'd be at LW.
It's a bad loss for Loma. Even though hes a bit undersized. He looked scared to throw. He should have beaten a fighter who has major flaws and leaves his chin exposed. He should not have lost this fight.
