Props to both of them for taking the fight. Lomachenko went all out trying to unify every belt and Lopez could have easily added a few easy defenses until he went for it. Boxing would be better off if more young guys dare to be great.
No excuses from me, Loma just didn't have a good strategy, if in 3-4 rounds you haven't figured something out, it's time to change it up.
I didn't make an official prediction but I thought Loma's experience was going to be the difference and picked him winning a UD. Great gameplan and execution by Lopez. He controlled the tempo well and used good resets to keep Loma from establishing anything.
I dont think so, I can see his ego from europe. People like that cannot take hits like this one easily. What did lomo say in the pre-interview? "failure? I dont know this word". Well, now you know it, you are a little bit more illustrated now, look at the bright side. It will not be easy for him AT ALL. I'm 100% sure.
Taylor/Ramirez winner is the only fight of interest there really. Then you've got two undisputed champs from two weights going at it. Other than that there are better fights for him at 135 IMO.
Big Fan of Loma, but no excuses for him or any boxer who moves up in weight. Alternative PEDs need to be introduced, all boxers are having a hard time staying in their weight class, its not laziness. The desired Anabolic side-effect (in most sports), is backfiring in boxing, boxers end up losing range with every training camp. The other PEDs that can cut weight, are not as happy-aesthetic as the current popular PEDs, but they will upset the status quo.
I'm hoping this isn't the lesson other fighters take. I saw that early rounds and was thinking "oh ho ho Loma's baiting the trap, Lopez is going to leap chin first into a counter" and it took maybe 4 rounds before I realized it was just a very slow start.
Even though I have been trolling some of his fanboys, I also was expecting Loma to win. Although a little doubt crossed my mind I didn't expect this outcome. I feel Loma felt that power early, but I'm still shocked that he was so tentative those early rounds even though he should have known he was clearly behind. He took some big bombs today. So he definitely has a better chin than I thought he had. Closing the gap however, was a mighty struggle for him, especially getting past those body shots.
No excuses, congrats to young Teofimo, he done great. I’d like to see him vs Haney and Garcia as same generation but would love to see him vs Taylor/Ramirez/Prograis
I picked loma to not only win but to school Teo and i think rounds 8-11 looked how i thought the whole fight would look but too little too late. Teo is a terrific young fighter and i cant wait to see what he does in the future.
Yea. Just give credit to Lopez. Don’t start calling Loma a hype job which is what some people will now do.
