    One of the best hooks by a heavyweight was Ali's against Bonavena. Perfect punch. Timing, accuracy, unseen, had Oscar's momentum. It laid a tough man who had survived Joe Frazier to waste.

    Maybe not the hardest hook but certainly one of the more effective.

    I was going to mention this one. One of the best punches that Ali ever landed. Beautiful hook, not the hardest, but incredibly effective.

    Joe Louis was noted for his right hand, which was exceptional. However, he could throw a mean left hook when he wanted to. This one lifts Tony Galento off his feet at the :55 second mark

    To be fair the criteria is "hardest" only. Charles hooks might be able to be bracketed (among multitudes of others) for greatest but not IMO hardest at heavyweight.

    Morrison had one of the top 5 left hooks in heavyweight history IMO along with Tua, Cooney, Tyson and Frazier. If only he had the discipline to stay in shape, he could have been greater.

    I like Weaver vs Tate and Ruddock vs Dokes. Someone mention Morrison vs Ruddock, which Morrison literally lifter Ruddock feet off the grown, but Ruddock did get up, so kinda eliminates it.
