More like he aged and fought a bigger / younger fighter a weight class up who looks to be more than your typical world champion. Lopez has the talent to become one of the best in this time. A pound for pound fighter. Props to Lomo for taking such a risk, it's the stuff Floyd Mayweather and Roy Jones would never do at age 33, fighting a new champion who's 23, 10 years younger who can box and punch. Lower weights age much faster than the upper weights.
Ali lost what, 5 times? Was he over rated because he lost? I say let's see how good Lopez turns out. I suspect he has pound for pound ability and its a case of a 33 year old with lots of miles on his tires losing to a 23 year old, with the 23 year old going up a weight class. Primes don't last as long in the lower weights, thankfully most grandmothers do
Not by anyone who’s opinion is worth listening to. He’s still an amazingly talented fighter, accomplished many great things. He screwed up in his last fight, that loss was not necessary nor would it have occurred if he got himself together but these things happen.
If he decisively beats Lopez in a rematch and then beats Tank and Mikey at 140 lbs, he will definitely be in the ATG discussion. And while I don't think this will happen, it's not impossible either. He's only 32 (which used to be old, but today is more like prime age) and haven't had many pro fights and only two tough ones. If the desire is there, his body should have plenty to give yet. And even if this would turn out to be more or less the end of the road for him, he will still be thought of as an absolute h2h animal at 126 at the very least.
I still want a fight between Loma and Mikey as much as ever. I still consider them to be of the same natural size and the best two of this generation of that size, so a meet between them would be very significant for me.

Best talent since Roy Jones, would have beaten Sugar Ray Robinson, would have toyed with Floyd Mayweather, Tank Davis and Haney running scared etc. etc. The loss to Salido should have been the reality check for most but that didn't derail the delusion express sadly, last night was I hope the end of the Lomachenko delusion hypetrain. A talented, world class fighter but nothing more, not elite, not a modern great and certainly not even in the discussion as an ATG.
People like to mention the... indiscretions of the Salido bout, but it really did show what hampers Loma style wise. Loma didn't really change his style either, he just gained more pro experience and had bouts that suited him stylewise. It is crazy how aesthetic and hype affects others - just shows you can't take most posters on here seriously as they haven't actually watched a lot of Boxing and don't know what they are on about. Loma fanboys really soured my opinion of him for a long while, when he is otherwise a very excellent fighter.
Was Lomachenko overated? Yes. Absolutely. But no more overated than Mike Tyson, Roy Jones JR, Prince Naseem etc Is he an amazing fighter? Yes, also Is lopez underated? Yes to that too.
Lomo is definitely not over rated.... He is a very skilled elite fight and got beat by another very skilled elite fighter. It happens the fight itself wasn't as exiting as i thought it would have been but it was a very good solid fight from 2 elite guys. Instead of giving all the **** ala Lomo is overrated, Lopez is a hype job bull****, give both guys huge props for putting it on the line during a pandemic for probably a lot less money than they should have got. Teofimo should get all the plaudits and praise he deserves for a massive win that should make the guy a star. Congratz to Lopez and commiserations to Lomo from me. Both guys are stars and deserve everything they get from the game.
Eh, what you describe is what Floyd did when he was 36. Also, Loma is 32. This post is an excellent example of how Loma is overrated by some. Yes, he doesn't shy away from challenges, but he doesn't try to slay dragons, either. He didn’t do a Garcia and go after Spence. He stayed in the same weight class and took on a huge puncher that most thought was too green and one-dimensional. No one saw this as a seminal challenge going in.
Over rated, yes. Exposed, no. Loma is not the best boxer to ever lace them up. But he is one of the best boxers of his generation. For 5 years he dominated his opposition and established himself as the best FW, SFW and LW fighter in the world. He managed to establish a solid case for P4P number 1 as well. So he's absolutely not been exposed, he just isn't as good as some believed.
