Firstly.. Ive never warmed to Lopez .. Great performance from him.. He fought a great fight and showed that hes skilled as well as powerful... I thought he was going to get mullered and stopped late.

Gameplan wise.. From round 7 onwards the fight looked how I thought it would from about round 3 or 4... Lopez clearly made lomachenko wary about getting in and waiting so that's credit to him rather than a **** gameplan from lomachenko.

Immediate thought on lomachenko after this fight... Easy to say with hindsight and I sound like I'm being bitter... But he really shouldn't be at lightweight, at all... I've thought it since the linares fight he's looked more human despite winning and in his subsequent fights at lightweight but his shigh skill level has got him by.. It looked like a super feather against a welter.... He looked like the better boxer when he turned it on... I do hope he goes for the rematch and goes for it earlier whether he win or lose .... But regardless of the outcome..

Id like him to go back down to superfeather or feather if he can make it and unify

Teos got some good fights at lightweight... Who knows how much longer he will be at 135 though.. He looked enormous.. Plus him vs Taylor would be a decent scrap at 140

Anyway..fair play to the kid.. Undisputed at 23 beating a top 2 pound for pound fighter... Respect

It was obvious that this was going to happen someday with Lomachenko. Unfortunately, moving to a different weight class, wasn't the best decision for him. Lopez used his advantages and got what he deserved last night.

I also picked Loma to win and I was impressed with his effort in the last 5 rounds.

This talk of him "just turning it on earlier" is ridiculous though. Loma wasn't throwing because he knew if Lopez caught him clean early the fight could have been over quick. Had Loma had more success in the first 6 Lopez might have fought differently over the last 6. This is why we watch the fight to see how it all plays out. Everyone should just be glad we got to see a great fight

I'm happy in a way cos even though I didn't like him he did it the hard way and didn't **** out of the challenge like gervonta Davis did.. And now we have a legit young skilled hotshot on our hands whose probably got at least another ten years plus in the sport and he will hopefully carry on challenging himself for years to come... I think lomachenko could take the rematch if he goes balls to the wall but could also get knocked out

Great strategy from the Lopez team too. Lomachenko is known to be a slow starter... lopez put a good amount of pressure in the first 6 rounds, and the rest is history. That gives him at least a draw in the fight. Used his size advantage pretty good, I like Lomachenko but real props to Lopez & he is only 23.

boxers are ageing slower these days he’s got at least 3 years left at the top probably more

I don’t usually watch the little fellas but I do watch Loma due to his ridiculously high skill level and I agree that he should go back down a weight class

also I could see him winning a rematch
