George Foreman would not make it undefeated from 1937 to 1949

Well, if you really have no idea of who you think would beat him?

 

I can’t think of any who would beat him, Max Baer has the best chance, and even then it is very slim

Foreman is tailormade for Braddock, Godoy, Farr, Red Burman, and Walcott. I don’t see him doing well in any of these fights.

Pastor and Conn might take decisions off Foreman, but if Foreman finds a way to connect its lights out.

Foreman would have more success against guys who are easier to land on like the Baer brothers, Simon, Nova, and Galento.

 

I think, based on George's overall career, he does make it those 12 years undefeated, given that he's the same size he was as a pro and his opponents are the same size as they were at the time. Louis also had a few years of inactivity due to the war. Maybe Billy Conn outboxes him and exhausts Foreman. But I can imagine Conn deciding he's doing so well that he decides to try to take out Foreman and gets caught and kayoed.

 

Louis floors him and then the fight gets stopped in 6.

Jersey Joe stands a chance, but I can't see him taking those shots flush.

 

Foreman would beat everyone

 

Foreman lost to a declined 32 year old Muhammad Ali who was 7 years older and conceeded every physical advantage. Had Foreman easily knocked him out as expected it wouldn't really be that well regarded win. Just another young Champion beating an old former one.

Foreman was then outboxed and floored by Jimmy Young. Who wasn't all that different from the cuties of the 30s and 40s in terms of size and skill.

All that said...I don't buy Foreman as being invincible in any era when he largely was a disappointment in his own era. He should have dominated the 70s, instead he ended up being on the wrong end of one of the greatest title upsets in history, struggled and looked very vulnerable against the inexperienced Lyle, and got humilated into retirement by Jimmy Young. His resume after Frazier, Norton, and Lyle is pretty thin for a period noted for it's depth.

I cannot see him matching Joe Louis' run, let alone surpassing it. He would fall victim to the occasional upset, and I'm sure him and his fans would have excuses for each one, but losses none the less.

 

Can see slick boxers beating him. Fun fight someone else mentioned once would be Ezzard Charles v Foreman. Can see a guy like Conn and Pastor and Walcott and Braddock frustrating the hell out of him. He obviously beats most of them but wouldn’t be surprised if he dropped one. Especially Charles with Foremans stamina issues.

 

Over confidence could perhaps get Foreman beat. If he enters every fight as he did Frazier he wins maybe em all but if he starts slacking off and training goes out of the way, then who knows?
