Is it really though? at this point White Wolf really isn't a tier above guys like Carman or Nascimento. I've always said Romanov is wasting his time. If he wanted any chance of reaching the top it would have been wise to move down to CW. He's a tiny HW isn't getting the right fights is in his mid 30s now.
I’m not sure to be honest. He obviously was at one point in his career but I didn’t see his last fight, so I can’t tell has past prime he is. The result of the fight suggests probably a fair bit past it. Romanov has looked pretty poor whenever I’ve seen him. You know what, once Gassiev is back I think a fight with these two makes some sense.
I was hoping on the heels of the Hernandez win, some bright money man would think to get Kinpin a fight with Liakovich, and then maybe Peter. At least Romanov has a fight. I am sure that he is thinking that he can get Wilder in the ring now that Fury has fallen through by hyping the past, but posing as a safe "tune-up."
Boxrec has our Peter Milas fighting TBA on October 31. Based on limited youtube footage, I don't see him as a blue chip, but he has the look of a fun second-tier guy. Hope they come up with a decent opponent.
Yokas handlers might shy away from this one. Not saying Milas would win but he's a young, awkward and hungry HW. There are still serious concerns about Yokas punch resistance and thus far they have not put him in with a HW with an upward trajectory. This would be a great fight.
Not to mention Yoka really does appear to be on PEDS. He took a year off for avoiding testing, and that last fiasco against Duhaupas has been stricken form the boxing record, because it was not a sanctioned fight, and held under modified kickboxing rules, kind of like what they once did for Tommy Morrison. One explanation of why that might be is because PEDS testing is less stringent. Yoka will almost certainly win, but I will be cheering for Milas for the upset. Stranger things have happened, and there is a chance this will be a different, diminished Tony Yoka without if testing is well performed.
