Were there or are there any lightweights other than Duran that could win a world 160 title?

Have there been any former lightweight champs that could have won a 160 world title other than Duran, could any lightweight do that in today`s game? what lightweight champ could have beaten Barkley?

Floyd and Whitaker could have defeated a non-great middleweight Titlist.

Armstrong would beat ten bells of **** outta Cotto. PBF and Whitaker would beat him too. Obviously.

It's almost comical to think of any lightweight today winning at middleweight, and I don't think Floyd Mayweather would even consider getting in the ring with a good middleweight.

Hmm? I'm trying to envision Floyd or Sweet pea in the ring with Iran Barkley.

Armstrong deserved the decision against Garcia for the middleweight title.

De La Hoya did actually officially win the WBO middleweight title against Felix Sturm but the decision was very disputable, Sturm deserved to win .... and the WBO version of the middleweight title was not highly regarded at the time anyway.

Yes I've read that Armstrong should have gotten the verdict.

Could Floyd have outboxed Darren Barker, David Lemieux or GGG had he stepped up around 2013-15 ?? I believe he would have (GGG has the best chance but he's too slow to land **** on Floyd).
And before the haters get triggered yeah I'm aware PBF was safety first both in the ring and out of it when it came to matchmaking but if he had decided to step he would have done fine.

The last two Ring Middleweight champions were Canelo Alvarez and Miguel Cotto, and both will likely end up in the Hall of Fame, and Floyd Mayweather beat both of them.

So, obviously, Mayweather could certainly do it. Depends on who the champs were he was fighting, of course.

It wouldn't be easy for any lightweight to do. I was happy Duran won against Barkley, as was everyone, but I didn't think he won.

Some of the official scorecards in that fight were as bad as Julie Lederman's the other night. I think one judge gave Duran 10 points in 10 of the 12 rounds (rolls eyes). People were just shocked Barkley wasn't blowing him out, so they were giving Duran any round that was competitive. Even Gil Clancy fell into that trap. Bernstein and Clancy had Barkley way up. After the tenth, Al said he thought Duran needed a knockout to win. When Duran scored a knockdown, Clancy said that might be a "three point round! (10-7)

Why on earth would it be a 10-7 round, Gil? (LOL). Then Duran didn't even win the last round.

They just all wanted Duran to win. I had Barkley winning a close one. I thought Nunn beat Barkley much more convincingly, and that was much closer on the official cards than the Duran cards.

I thought Mayweather beat Cotto and Alvarez much easier than Duran "defeated" Barkley, and I was rooting for Cotto and Alvarez and Duran.

GGG has a better jab than anyone Floyd has faced.
