I agree except Loma always uses a high guard it`s just that he was punching for the first 8 rounds so that Lopez couldn`t counter him with the right hand, the right uppercut is the money punch for Lopez.

You guys just can't give Lopez any credit? Loma was scared for 7 rounds to throw any real punches. Lopez instilled fear in the best fighter on the planet. He won in a manner many didn't think he could. You guys discredit the punch stats, but let the glove be on the other hand and you guys would use punch stats to justify a Loma win, just like you do with the Canelo/G and Ward /Kovalev fights. It was a good win for a young, upcoming fighter. Give the guy his props. This was as noncontroversial a fight as can be. Hey, if you need a shoulder to cry on, see Wilder, Golovkin and Kovalev fans. You will be in like minded company. They meet every Tuesday on the corner of disbelief and fantasy land. After several hours of crying and contemplating all the what ifs, they go to the Loser cafe where they dine on sours grapes, crow and humble pie.

I agree witn what you`re saying, but I think Loma would have had a chance if he rallied earlier and would love to see a rematch.

Elite fighters can take shots that average and good fighters can't. Loma is elite he's going to be very hard to knock out. With that said no one in the world thought Lopez would beat loma by ud , if you thought Lopez was going to upset loma it was going to be by KO not ud.

I'd say his power did it's job fine. You're never going to win every fight against top opponents by KO, especially at lightweight, but he used his power effectively to keep Loma at bay for much of the fight. Always hard to KO a good defensive fighter, and he was mostly using single shots.

It seems Loma was worried about power, it's the best explanation for the lack of output and getting behind so badly. But instead of mocking Loma, people should give him credit for going in with guys much bigger and more powerful and in this case for opening up quite a lot in the second half and taking quite a few shots, knowing the danger.

Are you kidding? lomo gave for free 7 rounds, and you wonder where was the power? really? In those 7 rounds is the power. And in the 12, when lomo had to headbut to avoid going to sleep on the canvas.

    Mother of god!! this forum....

Most definitely. Usually Loma starts putting combos together and gets into the "Matrix" around the 4th or 5th round. At that point he leaves his opponent in the rear view. Not saying TL wouldn't adjust and keep up, but that's why we need a rematch.

His power showed up more than I thought it would, tbh. Because I didn't expect Loma to shell up for more than half the fight, a sign of respect for the incoming fire.

Even guys with legendary power don't win all their fights by KO, not at world level.

He probably would have risked getting ko'd if he attacked before Teo gassed. I was amazed watching Teo win the mental fight early on.

Lomachenko fought almost exclusively defensive for about 8 rounds. Its very hard to KO anyone when they are not willing to engage.

Once Lopez slowed down a bit Loma capitalized and made the fight very close.

Please stop making excuses! It diminishes Loma to do so. When he beat the other Lightweights and was unified world champion at this weight no one said anything. When Teofimo does a job on him the excuses start. When Loma faces my boy Gervonta Tank Davis and Loma gets stopped you will find other excuses. Then it will Loma has aged etc. just accept Teofimo was the better fighter after all we all know how Teofimo struggles to make Lightweight which is why having created history as the first to win the 4 belts at Lightweight he moves up to Super Lightweight. Great fights to be had with the likes of Prograis, Josh Taylor etc.
