Gerrie Coetzee- Back in the day the pundits talked about his "bionic" right. It was a great bit of propaganda really. One immediately thinks that speaks to some superhuman power but all it actually refers to is the sheer amount of operations he'd had on that hand and how some knuckles had by then been fused together. Not much more to it than that.
Samuel Peter Acelino Freitas Gennady Golovkin Kelly Pavlik(hit harder than tommy Hearns according to Bob arum)
I would. He almost never took guys out with one shot, instead simply beating guys down with a blizzard of combinations. You hit anyone THAT many times, they're going to go down. Not for a moment suggesting he had featherfists, but he's not exactly the Julian Jackson of his division either, as his KO percentage would suggest.
Smith destroyed Witherspoon in the first round and Witherspoon had good chin. The over the hill Smith could destroy Everett Martin but Martin could go the distance with Wladimir Klitschko or the old Foreman .Ask Ribalta about Smith's punching power ! Overraed ? Sure...
Is that coz you think his power is an attritional thing, or because he doesn't have the names/percentage/bodies to back it up?
Jose Ribalta went the distance with Smith and lost a split decision. Why should I ask him? And Bigfoot Martin was stopped a dozen times. Martin was stopped in two by Damiani the fight before Smith. You're overrating Smith's power. He had a ko percentage around 50 percent (62 fights, 32 knockouts).
