No doubt Lopez boxed very well but his power and size were clearly a major factor and he used those advantages very well. Loma only started working when he really had to. It's almost like they were waiting for the power to fade but it didn't. Loma was on his way out in round 12 as he had to go for it.
God almighty, show some respect fella. He’s a true champion that lost, at a weight he shouldn’t have been at.
I do respect the guy but the weight issue does not excuse the fact he threw so very few punches early on.There have been numerous examples of people boxing above their natural weight and still wage war.Kell Brook v Golovkin is just one
Kell brook never stood a chance, he couldn’t outbox GGG and he couldn’t go to war with him, he tried and it ruined his career. Brooks tactics were “have a go” it was stupid to bake a fight he never could win, it wasn’t testing himself it was career suicide. Loma is not as stupid as team brook, it wasn’t balls it was stupidity from team brook
Thats your view but i prefer his attitude to that of Lomachenko who for a so called great showed a great reluctance to fight until it was to late
I actually had the fight scored a draw. But always felt like Lopez was ‘the winner’ in truth. He boxed clever. I think Loma expected him to go all out early and then they could work on him when he was tired. That didn’t happen. Lopez boxed well at length, didn’t leave many gaps and worked Loma’s body when he was backing off. By the time Loma decided he had to really go for it, it was too late. I thought after the 9th Loma might really start to steamroll him but then Lopez has a very good 12th. Both excellent fighters. Yes, there was a size disparity, but you can’t moan too much about that if you have three of the belts at that weight. Loma is still at worst number 2 in the division.
33 years old, a 12.5% loss ratio and not really a career defining fight on his record, I like Vasyl a lot but where does his career go from here? He needs to be in big fights all the time now and crucially he needs to win them. Beating tiny Rigo and an aged version of Linares aren't enough for his legacy.
I did, not entirely on my own with that but it sort of ‘feels’ wrong. I didn’t note down which but I gave him the second round for example which to a lot of people seemed a clear Lopez one. Neither did much at all in that round but Loma’s work was just marginally cleaner, so I award him that round.
The 2nd was close. I didn't score the fight but watching I don't think Loma won a round from 1-7 and clearly lost the 12th
There was another round I gave to him that others didn’t though I forget which. I think it might have been the 7th actually. My overall read of it is that Lopez definitely deserved to be seen as the winner though it was ultimately still a close fight
Oh it definitely was close. Because we are all surprised that Lopez took most of all of the first 6 rounds its easy to forget a lot of those rounds were very close themselves.
Devon Haney crawling out the woodwork with some right snidey digs.."always said loma was whack" hope he gets flattened if he ever grows a pair the cant!
