Lopez is not a particularly big lightweight, smaller than guys like Commey, Nakatani, Campbell, Linares etc. Will be undersized at welter.

The kid is highly skilled with great physical attributes, you don’t beat an elite fighter like Loma on a negligible size advantage alone.

Let's see how Lopez fares against elite level opposition his own size or that he's not way bigger and stronger than. If you're going life and death with Japanese fishermen who hold height and reach advantages over you, getting hurt repeatedly by a blown up 126 pounder not known for their power, dropped like a sack of potatoes in sparring by a younger rank novice when the shoe's on the other foot and you're giving away weight, and also getting dropped in the gym by Campbell with big gloves and head gear on it doesn't exactly fill me with confidence that you're going to look quite so formidable up at 140 against opponents your own size, let alone when you're step up to your third division and are giving away huge physical advantages. We've seen this happen time and time again with weight bullies.

Unless that is you're a Terry Crawford who is rehydrating 15-18 pounds in every division you've campaigned in and not only have your obligatory reach advantage in every single one of your world title fights, but often end up having a significant weight advantage over your opponent as you ascend through the weight classes or at worst weigh about the same as them and have rarely ever been at a significant weight disadvantage against the C level non-punchers you've forged an entire career feasting on in your backyard.

Don't get me wrong, I think Crawfy is a hell of a fighter and I rate him highly. But the true test of his worth lies ahead in his natural weight class and I think he'll pass the test and might even be the last one standing. But size matters and it's a different ball game when you're facing punchers your own size and especially ones who are bigger than you. Same goes for Lopez.

Taylor takes away the size advantage and has the skills and power to hurt Teofimo badly.

Taylor is an obvious pick over Loma, only a true fanboy would pick Vasyl.

I fancy Taylor strongly, too much pressure and very good inside

Lopez will improve though, can't underestimate him but I really do believe Taylor beats him

Lopez had all the physical advantages over Loma. He was bigger, stronger, tougher, but surprisingly he was also quicker/faster than Loma. And I wasn't really expecting to see that. It was the first time we have seen Loma in with a faster man. And he tried to circle and fight from the outside, but he was beaten to the punch by a quicker man. Once Loma came up against a faster man he was like a fish out of water.

    Er. GRJ says hello

Loma's actually fought many of the fastest fighters in the game in GRJ, Linares, Rigo and Lopez. In just 16 fights too.

I'd love to see Taylor welcome Lopez to the UK by planting a Glasgow kiss on that big bent Gonzo the Muppet schnozzle of his.

GRJ was faster true, but not really in an explosive way. Lopez's speed actually had something with some force behind it. He didn't want to engage because Lopez could deliver a punch out of nowhere with serious speed and power. And Loma has never encountered something like that in the ring before.

3 things about the Lopez Loma fight that surprised me, 1.Lopez's patience and boxing to start the fight,2. Lomachenko's passive almost fearful stance for the first 6 rounds. 3. That Loma started backing up the younger, stronger ,harder hitting fighter in the second half of the fight. I don't think that bodes well for Lopez at 140 against some good bangers

Linares is super fast and explosive and not the kind of guy you want to be giving a significant amount of weight away to because obviously that would amplify the power.

Here's someone who has held pads for both Lopez and Linares

But yeah, when a blown up 126 is fighting a natural 140 who is blazing fast and punches like a 147 it's obviously going to be a problem.

I think Lopez has the potential to give Taylor a tough night, but got to go wish the Tartan Tornado.

Teofimo doesn’t have enough to keep JY off his chest. JT can flick the jab, slip and box. When he has decided to step on the gas, close the distance and make it a war. No one has been able to live with him. I see the same story against Teo.

JT doesn’t pose, he works every every minute of every round and the only fighter I can see at 140 147 who lives with him is Vergil, long as he can do the distance .
