Loma was overrated because people had massive boners over his amateur career

But if Khan stayed as an amateur he could have been one of the most decorated amateurs of all time, doesn't mean he'd be a GOAT pro.

Tyson Fury is the GOAT but still lost to an amateur David Price on points. Fury even dropped him.

I hesitate to say Loma was overreated, at least in his first couple of years as a pro. No one can deny how talented he was, his footwork was unparalleled and for a time he definitely looked every bit P4P #1. The way he dominated Rigondeaux, weight difference or not, he was amazing that night. But in recent years he has clearly been slipping.

To the OP - when did you stop beating your GF (or wife)?

I wish the Forum did a better job of moderating these wind up threads. But I've been here long enough.

for those that he took on back then. i always said mikey would solve that puzzle by pivoting with him, to take those angles and halfstepping back when loma launched in order to meet him with his 1-2. pretty much what teo did, so it wasnt a huge mystery. if i could see it, im sure trainers wiser than me would also see it. yeah, it couldve turned out differently... but it didnt.

Not over rated His Amature Career was Elite and His Pro Career outstanding....The thing is like Golovkin who I rate more than Loma is when you have a decorated Amature career and have around 400 fights your use by date is substantially shortened We are seeing that with Golovkin in my opinion one of the Greats and most feared Middleweights we have seen for some time. You can see it in His last 3 Fights he has lost some Zip and Pep it's like he has Hit the wall very quickly.....This takes nothing from His sensational career both Amature and Pro but every fighter has a use by date and what I see from both GGG and Loma is there use by date may have come a bit early and quickly because of there long and substantial Amature career......Both absolute Champions though and a credit to our Sport regardless of whats ahead.!!!

I don't think Loma is massively overrated, he is an excellent fighter, but we started to see signs that he was human, but like most fighters who are number 1 in their division and are in the P4P debate.. they have fans who rate and back their man.

Sometimes that spills over in to madness, within a few defences and a couple of good wins some are calling them "GOAT" and all sorts of crazy crap.

    It just gets silly.
