No. He doesn't have the nuts to go at it with bigger men who can punch. And there is nobody in his natural weight class who is strong enough opposition. He needed to beat Lopez or Mikey Garcia. And didn't do it.
Of course he can. One loss doesnt end your career. He may fight Lopez again, win that and thats a huge boost. At Lightweight there are fights with: Devan Haney, Ryan Garcia, Gevonta Davis, Lee Selby, Javier Fortuna, Richard Commey. If he moves back down to SFW there are fights with Miguel Berchelt, Leo Santa Cruz, Oscar Valdez, Carl Frampton, Jojo Diaz, Tevin Farmer Jamal Herring, Shavkat Rakhimov, Chris Colbert. There is easy the fights there to carve out an ATG career, lets see what happens.
Golovkin didn't have the nuts to go at it with smaller Canelo who doesn't pack that hard of a punch. He backed off continuously throughout 24 rounds of boxing. At least Loma had the gonads to bite down on his gum-shield and was prepared to take a punch to land a punch when he thought his chances of winning was in jeopardy. Loma vs Lopez would have been like Golovkin vs Ward. . We all saw how GGG wanted no part of that challenge. Loma > >> Tripe G
He has had his moment of greatness That boat has sailed He has to move aside now Boxing takes no prisoners If he chooses to stay soon he will be fighting small Japanese children and MMA fighters like Floyd in circus fights. Trying to salvage something from the deterioration of time are efforts in vain.
We have to get to judging people by their wins rather than their lack of losses. SRR, Ali, JCC, most of the best have multiple losses. If someone has high level losses then you know there's no fear of facing someone who is, in that moment, better. It's harder to believe they ducked anyone. And you can evaluate their resilience in the face of adversity. If Loma comes back and faces Haney, Berchelt, Stevenson, or some other good opponent then he's still on the road to greatness.
