I think he'll be kept up at the top of the rankings regardless, they're funny that way... However, with him realistically having what, 2 years left? I'd like to see his aggressively seek out the best opposition available aside from Fury and AJ and make an incontrovertible case that the winner of that fight has to fight him. Of course in the real world, this won't happen.
Bob Arum is an ex-lawyer & knows his stuff. Fury's team has more legal clout than Wilder can dream of. Finkel has nothing to stand on. Bob Arum actually hates Donald Trump because Trump managed to stiff him contractually back in the 90's LOL "A provision in the contract said the fight could be postponed due to an act of God or a war" That is hilarious. I bet Bob personally reads all the contracts word for word these days.
Even if it had a clause like this in the contract there is no reason for the fight not to go ahead other than losing money on a gate.. Sport is still happeneing just with out the crowds and in isolation..
I don't think there would be a legal justification for saying that the contract has expired with COVID-19 putting everything, including the contract, on hold. This rules out 1) and 2) 5) and 7) are unlikely because both were the case weeks/months ago and it seems odd that they would suddenly become reasons for the fight not going ahead or being delayed 4) contradicts reports that Wilder has been training hard and is in great shape. So it looks like 6) and 3)
Without seeing the contract we just don't know. It's unlikely there wasn't a force majeure clause, but how that would be applied could depend on how it was drafted and which jurisdiction the contract stipulates etc. What we can see are one party seemingly moving forward whilst the other has not publicly given up their claim, but doesn't appear to have taken any action to defend their interests, yet... I still think this could be going to court.
