In terms of mainstream breakout fights go this was no Pac/Barrera or Hopkins/Tito, this was far from a schooling. Lopez swept the first half of the fight for me but he was barely winning rounds. He took away Loma's jab and left Loma without a safe way to mount any offence but once Loma made an adjustment in how he threw his jab it became a very different fight in the last third of the fight.

Loma's ranking as P4P number 1 was deserved, his ability and resume rightly had him as one of the best if not the best on pretty much everyone's P4P list. But no doubt he received a lot of hype, some people had already bestowed the mantle of greatness on him and that he was the best fighter of his generation, that I think was premature, true greatness should not be so easily attained.

No, it wasn't one sided at all, Lopez just performed much better than expected in a close fight.

I watched it again last night, and it was a good fight to be fair, but Lopez certainly wasn't feared of loma, his body shots were working well and he gave loma more problems than he could handle.
A very deserved winner in my opinion, well done Lopez.

Welcome back brother, and no... it's being vastly blown out of proportion. Here's my scorecard, and its a damned near perfect reflection of how the match played out.

Lopez landed next to **** all in the first 6 rounds, sadly, Loma threw next to **** all in the first 6 rounds, presenting a judging conundrum. But hey... Lopez won the "story of those rounds" because he was marching forward looking like a big tough meanie. Meanwhile, very little of what he was landing was landing clean to the body or the head of Lomachenko. Meanwhile, while Loma was throwing very little, most of what he threw he landed. Then Loma took over, beat him up from 8 to 11, then Lopez managed to actually beat Loma up in the final round. This match was the very definition of looks can be deceiving. That being said.. I have no issue with Lopez winning it, but what I do have an issue with all of the intellectually dishonest spin doctors and all of the other bull**** artists... or fanboys and haters that don't actually know what they were watching making believe that it was some kind of one sided beatdown. It was a one sided Lopez walking down and hitting gloves and not much else for 6 rounds, which turned into a one sided Loma peppering his face with combinations with 4 or 5 of the next 6.

This is a far more accurate representation of what the fight truly looked like.

    Round 1 Lopez
Round 2 Even (I gave it to Lopez)
    Round 3 Lopez
    Round 4 Lopez
    Round 5 Lopez
Round 6 Even (I gave it to Loma)
Round 7 Even (I gave it to Lopez)
    Round 8 Lomachenko
    Round 9 Lomachenko
    Round 10 Lomachenko
    Round 11 Lomachenko
    Round 12 Lopez

    115-113 Lopez

But 114-114 after I rewatched it.

    It wasnt a boxing lesson.

Loma just nothing for the first 6 rounds. Lost those rounds CLEARLY.

He then didnt do enough in the second half of the fight to pull it back. He won 4 rounds clearly on my card. But it wasnt enough.

The size of Lopez and the power of his punches was the biggest issue that Loma had, as well as his own inactivity.

    I had it 116-112 Lopez.
