Larry Holmes 1982 vs Jimmy Ellis 1968, 15 Rounds. Could Larry stop Jimmy? Or would Ellis escape with a victory?

Holmes by stoppage during middle part of the bout. Once Larry starts to time Jimmy's right hand,it's a matter of time.

I think Holmes get a close decision win but Jimm had a sneaky right hand so never know- Jimmy may cause a knockdown

I cannot see Ellis having any ticks in the plus column compared to those of Holmes.

Easy money for Holmes. Holmes drills him with either the uppercut or rt hand and that's it for Ellis

Holmes TKO 10, give or take a round. Decision for Larry is not way out, but I think Larry would stop him.

Well said, Jimmy wasn't built to take a big shot from a heavyweight and Larry would nail him at some point. Ellis could box and he landed his right hand on a number of big heavies so Larry could get stunned or even dropped along the way, it wouldn't go the distance though.

Larry Holmes would have his hands full in the early going with Jimmy Ellis, especially being very cautious of the right hand that spilled Oscar Bonavena in their fight. Holmes would have to establish the left jab, lateral movement, make Jimmy come to him. Larry connects with his right hand in round 9 which ends the bout.

This is the closest to how I feel too. This is going the distance with Jimmy's speed causing all kinds of problems, not to mention some real pop in that right hand. Holmes on a good close decision over 15 rounds.
