Who wins between these two elite HW's that never met. I got 'Iron' Mike Taking out 'Big Daddy' Bowe in 7.
Bowe takes Tyson’s best early and stops him late, Tyson couldn’t handle it mentally when someone put it back on him and when Tyson gets tired in this fight, his feet will slow down and he will be getting busted up with the jab, Bowe would stand and fight with him when he has to
I think a focused bowe would win, but what makes it a tough call is the fact that bowe would get hit so much. 7/10 times bowe would win
Yeah that's why I went with Tyson. Bowe had a very leaky defence & got hit too much - as he liked to brawl. This would spell disaster against a prime Tyson.
Bowe would get knocked down hard by Iron Mike's left...but I don't know if Mike could take that jab and uppercut. Plus, Bowe was very good on the inside. I can't pick...Mike was a pretty amazing fighter in the time frame suggested. Bowe was no joke against Holy I either, though.
Much as I hate to admit it Tyson wins this. Bowe's lack of defense is suicide against someone with the power, speed, accuracy, and sharpness of Tyson.
Bowe was too easy to hit, too happy to brawl, and fought back when hurt instead of clinching. 88 Tyson has way too much speed, power, and weapons for him.
Providing Bowe manages to avoid most of Tyson's early/middle rounds fast and powerful punches,he wears Mike down in the late phase of the bout and stops him before 12 rounds are out. With Riddick's leaky defence, though,it's a big ask. So I envisage the referee stepping in to save Bowe from any more punishment around the fifth or sixth round.
Hm I'm really not sure. It's really hard to visualize a 1988 Tyson losing because we never saw him even really seem in trouble at that point. Whereas 92 Bowe was impressive but still had a really tough fight on his hands against the smaller Holyfield. On the other hand Bowe was much larger and had some similarities with Douglas in terms of pushing back and using his strength. And we only saw Bowe in trouble in spots against Holy and Golota, and Golota was stylistically and physically so different than Tyson. I guess it depends whether you think 1988 Tyson had some of the same weaknesses mentally that post Tokyo Tyson had but they just hadn't been revealed or if you think 1988 Tyson was really the unbeatable fighter he appeared to be and after he broke with Rooney he lost the support system that allowed those mental weaknesses to develop. I lean towards the former so I'm gonna go with Bowe by UD based on the idea that when Tyson met a top level motivated, larger unintimidated fighter in their prime that he was going to struggle. See it playing out similarly to a mix of Bowe Holy 1 and Tyson Tucker.
88' Mike by KO. Speed Kills and Mike had it in spades at that point. Bowe hangs tough for a bit but ultimately gets stopped.
Tyson punched way harder than Bowe, just look at their fights against Golota, a weeded out Tyson managed to finish Golota in two rounds. Bowe took heavy punishment against Holyfield and Hide and Tyson punched a lot harder than them. Tyson by UD or late KO.
