Mathis may not have been ranked when Frazier fought him but he was certainly better than some of the guys who were in the WBA rankings at the time and he likely would have been if not for the WBA's political decisions around their tournament, Ali's ban, and their refusal to recognize Frazier because of his rejection of the tournament. For instance Mathis was certainly a better fighter than Dave Zyglewicz who was rated #10 and got that rating fighting the same calibre of opponent as Mathis. Likewise Ramos got rated off of nothing more than beating the skeleton of a former talented fighter named Eddie Machen by the skin of his teeth. Eduardo Corletti was somehow rated off of his win over Chuvalo but this ignores the fact that the WBA lobbied hard to have Chuvalo, not Corletti, in the tournament only to have Chuvalo take on Frazier instead. I think Mathis' inclusion in this list is acceptable. Mathis was no worse than several of the men the WBA rated at the time.

Jonothan Banks vs Seth Mitchell 1 but not 100% sure he was slower but he could’ve been in terms of hand speed

Really not far apart imo maybe I’ll have to rewatch price but I remembered him being faster. I’ll get back to this

I have just watched them both and I can conclude that you are actually right, Valuev actually has considerably faster hands than Haye, I have to hold my hands up and say I was wrong with my assumption on this one

Not me that's for sure. Speed was his advantage as Holmes had slowed.

Could Dokes have still had enough speed to be considered faster than Holyfield?
