I read that the BBBC have " carried " out their investigation and have cleared Terry O Connor of any wrong doings, regarding a hand held device, and have also " acepted " his expainations regards his score sheet. Shame on you Robert Smith, and your bias and inhouse enquiry/
As irritating as it is, did anybody really expect the BBBofC to do anything? Especially after Robert Smiths interview on IFL, the level of arrogance was of the charts, the fact he said he wouldn't take any notice of anybody "not qualified" says everything you need to know about Smith. In my opinion, As far as he is concerned he is right and unless you have moe experience than him in his position he isn't interested what you say.. so it a massive UP YOURS to all boxing fans. We've seen this sort of stuff time and time again, the BBBofC isn't fit for purpose, they have fined fighters for pushing opponents at weigh ins, saying things they deem tasteless, taken licences for off key comments... But a serial mess of a referee, who is sitting on his phone, scoring a fight so poorly it's just embarrassing is OK, it is not a problem. The quicker fighters and promoters come together in the UK and stand firm against the BBBofC the better, they have to start refusing certain referees and judges, just point blank refuse them. Because that's all anybody can do to rid themselves of these incompetent officials because the BBBofC are not going to do anything.
In fairness there is a video clip which proves it wasn’t a phone and just his notepad at an angle under the light.
British boxing regulator board are defunct and I no longer recognise the board or their belt The euro belt is now above the once prestigious Lonsdale Fans just freeze them out emplore all fighters to go through the Luxemburg board Starve the corrupt chunts out
Whilst I believe it wasn't a phone, his scoring hasn't been poor for years now and does need addressing. That said, I know a couple official judges and I have often been confused by their scoring. I was sat In the pub with a pro judge for the Joshua Povetkin bout (I think) with Campbell v Mendy 2 on the undercard, and despite Campbell winning clearly in my eyes, he scored it 9-3 to Mendy which I found strange. Maybe it's a training issue?
Not a training issue or incompetence as this has happened time and again over a very long career - dark forces at work backed up by Raheem Sterling or crisp Euros.
The British Boxing Board of Control are as dodgy as any governing body, but it wasn't his phone that he was looking at.
I've seen that vid that the pic was taken from. Apparently the board are saying it was the scorecards that was caught at a bad angle but it sure looks l8ke a phone to me. Scorecards are paper thin, that item had depth to it. About as much as a phone has.
The point is not what he's holding. .why is he not looking at the ring doing his job ..scoring the fight !! No wonder he balls'ed it up !
He might have had something behind the card, like one of the small notepads or something, to make writing easier. I don't know if judges take notes or not, too. It does look thicker than one card but it doesn't look like a phone to me in the slightest. It's thicker at one side, as if it's a small notepad which has some pages turned. Furey, that makes sense.
Yeah, he's a sound bloke but I couldn't figure out the polite way of telling him he was wrong! Mindy would throw loads of shots and miss them all and he would argue he was being battered.
