What are some big upsets in history, that happened either before you were born or before you were a boxing fan, that you think you would've called correctly had you been a viewer of boxing in that time?

    For example,
I was not yet born when the Rumble In The Jungle happened, but I think had I been a boxing fan in that time, I would've picked Ali to beat or at least trouble Foreman.
Ali had already shown that he was durable
And Still quick with his hands and feet.

I think I would've believed that Foreman was too wide swinging and slow to connect with Ali as frequently as Frazier and Norton were able to, and that Ali would win a decision.

Bowe/Holyfield 1. Bowe was a 7/5 underdog going into the fight. A minor underdog, but nonetheless, I can't see why he was an under-dog anyway. He had size, strength & power on his side - plus Holyfield had a shaky reign as champion at the time.

Great idea for a thread. This will really separate the men from the boys.

I’d have picked Michael Nunn to KO Sumbu Kalambay in the first round, by the way. Beat that!

It's very easy to get it right in hindsight.

I am going to say that I would have predicted a young Cassius Clay to beat Charles "Sonny" Liston...and because he had done the impossible once...I would have predicted Ali to beat Foreman...so I would have been correct twice!
However, I would then have made the terrible blunder of believing that Ali could do the impossible a third time and predicted him defeating Holmes!

    All of them.

But seriously, probably FOTC. My love for Frazier, belief that his non-stop left hooking style is awful for Ali, and having to Watch the Bonavena fight in real time, would probably mean I pick Frazier.

I predicted Fury beating Wlad & Rigondeaux besting Donaire. Not sure they were that historic though. Anything else is pure speculation

Not sure what the odds were but I predicted Froch / Groves 2 down to the round, don't usually make predictions but had a feeling. Might not be the most impressive but I was quite happy with it aha.

Your logic : "I could've predicted this fight after I watched it."
