Pretty much nobody calls them that outside a couple of those haters like yourself unable to put aside there ridiculous preconceived notions. Whether you like it or not facts are both are among the most popular fighters of all time with the casuals and the knowledgeable fight fans. They are also almost universally respected by fighters and people in the industry (including other combat sports), because of the way they fight, taking on all the best in multiple divisions as well as there no BS attitude, being among the 1st to bring up several major issues to do with fighters pay, both sitting out parts of there prime until they got compensated properly . Pretty sure that being 1 of the main reasons you are calling them divas for . The other issue they we're right on was to do with peds being rife throughout the sport, including alot of guys they lost to. "I know all the fighters and they are all on steroids"."All you mother****ers are on steroids"
This thread is discussing the most overrated NOT the most popular. The DIVA BROS are two of the most overrated fighters in history without a doubt. Open your eyes. Although they are popular fan favourites neither has ever been an elite fighter.
She needed a proper coach to make her a well rounded fighter, she could have been all-time great instead of a one trick pony relying just on a ground game, her balance was awful.
Tito Ortiz Ken Shamrock This one may not be popular but Royce Gracie TJ Dillashaw Brick Lesner Forest Griffen MVP
Neither was she. Her jiujitsu and judo was world class. She was an olympian athlete. Her down fall was ditching her grappling for striking, had she taken the Rickson Gracie aproach she might have still been undefeated.
No, fighters like Cyborg and Nunes were too rounded for Rousey, the sport has moved on, she was a one track pony, you need more than just great judo skills now.
If anything I think Liddell's impact on the sport gets undersold these days. The UFC would’ve certainly gone out of business if it wasn’t for him. His quality of opposition throughout his career and CV is one of the best in history too.
His impact was huge, and his presence as critical a boon for the fledgling sport as Carano's and Rousey's were later for the women's version...but just like Carano and Rousey, he was ridiculously overrated. I'm not sure what everybody thinks is the metric by which to judge being overrated but for me the hyperbole that dribbles from the mouth of the average casual is the north star. I attended many house party UFC PPV events where rabid Liddell fans proclaimed that no man past or present or future could ever be such a well-rounded and perfect all-terrain h2h fighting machine. At his peak hype there was no arguing with the mullet-hawked knuckle-dragging multitudes already proclaiming him the GOAT while still active - better off talking with a brick wall.
