    Headlining on DAZN tomorrow night. The vacant WBO intercontinental middleweight title will be on the line.

    Both men are coming off late grind-down stoppages of tough Irishmen. (Munguía over Spike O'Sullivan and Johnson over Jason Quigley)

    Munguía has an edge in chin and is closer to (if not still in) his prime, while Johnson is probably the more skillful boxer with true natural MW power.

    I think I will go for Johnson, on the unscientific basis that when I watch Munguia I think someone's going to expose him at some point, so maybe that point comes tomorrow...

    I think the Bahamian Bull can thrash him, and will be rooting for it...but I also won't be too surprised if Munguía either sloppily whittles him down to collapse, or gets a robbery decision.

    Munguía is exciting and definitely has pop. Otherwise he's not the best. Way too wild, although I can credit his explosiveness, volume, seemingly decent chin and great stamina. Tureano is in with a big chance at the upset here.

    Johnson on points. I didn't think highly of Munguia at JMW, I think even less of him now. He's big, strong, may or may not have a great chin, I'm inclined to believe he does. Johnson, is a good boxer all around, fairly tough guy. You gotta really beat on him to get him outta there and the only guys that have so far were able to are of far higher caliber concerning strength and skill (Derev.) and lights out power (Curtis).

    I'm conflicted, Johnson is excellent at closing the distance, getting in the grills of his opponents and grinding them down, with his suffocating pressure and high output, and he will probably do the same to Munguia, who is no wiz on the backfoot and isn't known for his counter punching prowess. So my head is telling me Johnson is literally all wrong for Jaime. But... my only question is about Johnson's durability at this point. Sure he looked like a million bucks against Quigley, but that was Quigley, he's been off for a long time, and he's getting up there in age, and Jaime will land and probably land aplenty, so will he get caught with something that hurts him? Because if he is, Munguia will leap on him and finish him, whether the stoppage will be legit or not, at least Munguia's flurry will give a ref the impression he's hurting him. So I have a feeling along the way, Johnson will walk onto something, get hurt and Jaime will pour it on him, and force a stoppage.

    Johnson is the bigger puncher here IMO. Problem is he can't take it as well. That and Munguía's volume will eclipse his. On the other hand, Johnson's connect percentage (in power shots anyway, since he isn't much of a believer in jabs :sisi1) will VASTLY outpace Munguía's. Take a fairly typical high-level performance from each: Munguía threw almost 700 punches in twelve rounds versus Dennis Hogan, while Johnson threw about 600 in ten with Curtis Stevens. Munguía averaged 34 power shots thrown and 8 landed per round (23%); Johnson averaged 21 of 47 (45%).

    To be fair Hogan took Munguía totally out of his comfort zone, lessened his output and diminished every facet of his game really. Still pissed at that robbery. Should've had an Irish world champ there FFS.

    I think mungia stops johnson I agree with some of the criticisms ppl have of mungia tho doesn't stop me from enjoying him as a fighter but I think mungia is still young and it will be a while before those flaws really cost him. For example I don't rate spike o'sullivan very high (tho he brought it for the mungia fight) but the guy is a real mw and he hit mungia with as good a shot as I've ever seen him throw and mungia shrugged it off (and the shot after the bell). If mungia keeps taking shots like that one day soon he's gonna meet a fighter that will make him pay but I don't think it will be johnson.

    Even though Munguia isn't really a world, P4P fighter, he's still better than what many think. He'll probably beat someone like Johnson, who's old, past it and never that good anyway, but Golovkin would absolutely destroy Munguia and Canelo would make him look silly.
