I don't know where Usyk got his hands on a hurl and sliotar but this is ****ing brilliant. He's actually lugging these around everywhere, the Brits haven't a clue what it is. I don't know how much he knows the sport but I hope he falls in love with it. Nothing like pucking the sliotar off the wall to yourself or with someone else. Helps with hand eye coordination too. It looks absolutely shite. A more dangerous version of lacrosse but a less dangerous version of shinty. I'm not sure it goes with the Calvin Harris music, maybe Boyzone would have been a decent choice.
I didn't even listen to the music. It's way better than lacrosse and almost the exact same as shinty.
We don't care about poosay ball, we have our own football. Also this sport predates football by centuries.
I've no real idea what hurling is but c20 years ago I worked in Dublin briefly, one oldish guy there apparently had been a good hurler in I suppose probably the 60s and/or 70s, he had some seriously heavy duty scarring on his face, way more than you'd expect to see on a boxer, I reasoned at the time that it must have been a very tough game.
You do realise we have different names for balls in sports? It's a specific type of ball that is hard and with a certain stitching pattern on it. Kind of like a baseball but with a pronounced bit of leather sticking out at the sites of stitching.
It is a very tough game, it is considered one of the craziest sports in existence and it's madly popular here. The idiots knocking this sport have clearly never experienced a hurl smacking their body when someone lashes at a sliotar with full power. I've got a permanent click in one of my thumbs that was broken thanks to it. Plus it's very high speed, you're allowed to shoulder your opponent to knock them off balance and you can't just hold the sliotar and run. You must balance it on the hurl as you're running and avoiding people flying at you to stop you. Then you have to absolutely nail a shot on the run at speed to score a goal or a point (goals are worth three points). It is incredibly skilled and the level is extremely high despite it only being an amateur sport.

True that, hurlers are tough ****ers and have something absent from half of American sports called good cardio.
