I can see that actually, mixed with a bit of Otto Wallin arm punchy goodness.

Well, I did make the analogy already of Pacquiao vs Horn where Pac was rag dolled and mauled by a larger stronger sloppier opponent.

The onus is on a guy with 10 losses? Lol.

Yes. He recovered well after that 7th round. Big credit to him. That showed his conditioning was top level.

If the 7th round went on, I think it's Bellew 2. Usyk can punch with power when he sets his feet. He just doesn't do it much. Reminds me of Vitali. But he has power and especially accuracy.

Usyk probably could have forced the issue at the start of the 8th, but he didn't need to and he didn't.

I think that damage, or as it's called in scoring "effective aggression" is an important criteria. Usually, I score the round to the guy who lands the more clean shots, but not always. There are some instances where the cleaner more accurate shots are not the most effective ones and that's usually when a feather fist technician gets matched up with a brawling bruiser. I'll give a few examples. Jean Pascal vs Yunieski Gonzalez, Erislandy Lara vs Jarett Hurd, Tim Bradley vs Ruslan Provodnikov. While we have the criteria of clean punching as a useful guide for determining who is doing the most damage, this is only a guide and not adequate to all occasions. In most fights the fighter who lands more clean punches is the one doing the most damage, but not always. Take for instance the case of Pernell Whitaker vs Oscar De La Hoya. Whitaker scored more clean punches, mostly jabs. De La Hoya scored the harder punches, mostly hooks and the like. Many people do not simply count the punches and arrive at a numerical score like in amateur boxing. Many people will put greater emphasis on haymakers that make a fighter's head fly and catch their attention than they do on a soft range finder jab that doesn't cause any reaction.

This fight reminded me of a youtube video where Connor McGregor fought The Mountain this seven foot tall strongman. McGregor was quicker and landed lots of light jabs, but the jabs didn't really hurt The Mountain. He was just exhausted from running after McGregor when he gave up. Or like when Oscar De La Hoya fought Shaquille O'Neil. De La Hoya showed far greater skill, but Shaq was never in danger.

There are cases when a much larger guy doesn't have to hit as often or as well to be out injuring his opponent. Maybe, that's what the judges thought in Julio Cesar Chavez Jr vs Brian Vera 1. I scored it for Vera, and called it a robbery, but I don't know if it's clear cut as all that.

Anyway, on to the next one. There's another fight on Showtime tonight. Happy Halloween everybody!

Usyk isn't troubling any top heavy. Let's nip that fantasy in the bud. Fury and AJ are too big too strong for him.

Deontay Wilder will harm Usyk in ways his fans can't imagine. AJ & Fury will also do the same, they can outbox Usyk although they are inferior in "boxing skills", lots of range to make up for in addition to the KO power bonus advantage.

Usyk can have a good fight vs former heavyweight unified champion Andy Ruiz or top heavyweight Povetkin, it will look good on his resume. both will be very competitive fights. Then its best he returns to Cruiser and become undisputed again

what a exciting fight. Best heavyweight fight of the year. Not far from predicted,Very tense early rounds were very dangerous for usyk but he was hitting chisora back looking to get some respect chisora was pushing the pace Landing some shots that weren' t super flush stunned usyk some sent him to the ropes, some body shots, usyk had some smart smother tactics but chisora has some rough tactics as well, after the fourth round chisora started to get tired and usyk started to side step and leads timed chisora serval times some good counters as well Chisora was stunned few times too but usyk didn't rush in and when usyk was blocking he was rolling as well ,chisora actually showed some decent defense and landed some good jabs in the fight, both guy was switching stance, I predicted usyk late stoppage considering fatigue and chisora was tired but still dangerous still swinging , Usyk very cautious there, didn't really over commit. Great fight.

Usyk was disappointing. I never bought into the hype but I expected better than that. It would be generous to call him a top 10 heavyweight right now.
Joshua and Fury would kill him.
I'd make Usyk-Parker a 50-50 fight and I'm possibly over-compensating there for overrating Parker in the past.

I watched an interview with Haye in which he said "Boxing is about who lands the most punches and Derek landed more than Usyk"...
I mean if you count punches to the shoulders, arms or gloves as scoring shots then yeah.

I tend to agree. Usyk is better then most (maybe all) of the top HWs p4p. Problem is the top HWs have more of the p.
Don't think Usyk can beat most of the top SHW and especially Fury & AJ. On a good night he might beat some of the better SWHs.

What about the SCW division? I think he could be one of the top dogs there.

Any Heavyweight with a smaller frame than Usyk is a good match for Usyk (regardless of weight), Usyk speed/skills will allow him to make the extra weight work against them.

With big framed heavyweights, he can't do anything about the extra range that will neutralize his boxing skills. (unless he changes his style -not a good idea-)

Anthony Joshua loss to Andy Ruiz, more than likely is playing with the mind of Usyk. Its very tempting to think he can do the same, but can he survive AJ power shots coming in? Andy Snickers Ruiz is the main reason Usyk is in Heavyweight and he thinks he can do Anthony Joshua, then maybe he will try the rest then.
