Damn, Usyk just can't seem to catch a break after last night's performance, despite coming away with the win against a very hungry and motivated version of Chisora. I recall someone mentioning the following in another thread: Did Joshua look great versus a 40+ y/o Klitschko coming off a loss to Fury? Furthermore, did he looks stellar in his rematch with Ruiz? In addition to this did his performance against Parker instill much confidence in him? Did Fury look like shades of Ali after being bust-open by Wallin, a fight in which he looked less than invincible at times? How dangerous did Wilder look against Ortiz until he finally scored the KO (after being given a breather by the referee?) I could list more examples but I've made my point and I would add that Usyk's victory looked far more convincing than any of those I've listed above despite the fact he got tagged a little more often and wasn't quite as sharp being two years older and fighting at a weight he's less used to. Just cut the guy a bit of slack will ya? He got the win and did so comfortably, for the most part, proving he's above gatekeeper status and a legitimate contender for a belt. Lastly, styles make fights and Chisora was always going to give Usyk some problems in this regard but he overcame them. I may sound like I'm licking his ******* here and you may be apt to believe given my defense of his performance that he's my favorite boxer to which I assert he isn't, I just think he deserves a little more credit than he's being given here. Edit: I forgot to mention. Full credit to Chisora for putting on a great performance and refusing to quit.
If it's impressive to break your opponent down over several rounds with hard low blows, while blocking punches repeatedly with your face, then yes Tank was impressive. His total lack of defense can actually make him a PPV guy. He just has to be matched properly. Neither Usyk or Tank were all that impressive. Tank doing that to Berchelt, instead of a smallish in mass LSC would be impressive, but had that of been Berchelt in there, Tank would of had his arse handed to him.
You missed a few things, corrections below. If you look at the two fights Tank fought a smaller guy who spent his career at lower weights, Tank wasn’t doing much and got bailed out by his power. Usyk fought a bigger opponent, who swarmed and pressured him early and Usyk outboxed, out fought and out hustled him to cleanly win the match. There, fixed it for you.
naw, keep threads like these. It helps us know who the village idiots are. They are gems for future thread Reply when these idiots Try to be serious.
TMT is going to start a new trend now. Fight old has beens or bantamweights to get a win whilst ducking the best in the div. The mayflower team.
Like I said before. I will wait and see how he performs in the next few fights. Long lay off and fighting a big strong heavyweight. I will not count Usyk out just yet.
Fighting the super featherweight greats like Mares, Frampton and Kiko Martinez. He doesn't belong there. Those guys he beat aren't even 130 or are they elite. Stop it! Proves it's weak div. You have Santa Cruz as champion. Something is wrong there, indeed.
All Usyk has to do is beat Joshua or Fury and he's the greatest fighter since Pacquiao or Mayweather. That's all there is left for him to do in this sport. GOAT Cruiserweight.
Tank has been campaigning at 135. Where he couldn't even make weight for. Yes Leo was the smaller guy in there.
