This content is protected This will be Fury's fourth straight undefeated foe. Kabayel is a capable fighter. I have no problem with the fight. This will be the first time Fury will defend his belt.
Reasonable opponent for a tick over defence. The only better name put forward as a potential for this date was Michael Hunter. Kabayel is a much better choice than Carlos Takam, which would have been bad. Kabayel is better choice than C.Martin, E.Ajabga ........ and about equal with O.Rivas. A reasonable challenger, but ..... .... I don't think it's a good fight, but you never know with Fury.
Nice fight. I think the user @catchwtboxing pointed this out a few weeks back so good call on that. Kabayel's a bit of a dark horse for me. He's obviously very skilled and capable, so it's not a terrible defence, but we don't really know what his ceiling is as of yet, or how he performs under the bright lights (of an empty studio). I don't think anyone can really complain about this one if it's made.
What? Kaybayel is not close to being ranked in Ring magazine's top 10 at heavyweight, He's only 15th the in the " WBC rankings " and is best placed at Box Rec ranking #36 in the world. This is a BS defense. Kaybayel has about a month to prepare, and likely was lowballed to take the fight with no drug testing. Advantage Fury. The 6'3 German has taken fighters making their debut, fighters with losing record and journeyman the distance, in other words he has medium level power at best. Fury is a fraud, king of an ant hill for giving the fans a title defense like this. Another bogus title defense. Schwartz was bad enough.
Dont really care. I just want Joshua to get past Pulev and Fury to get over his homecoming fight, so that they can fight in a huge fight in late Spring/Summer in front of an actual crowd(fingers crossed)
The slickness factor for this one will be off the charts. British Gypsy Slickness vs Kurdish German Slickness. Kabayel is, like Fury, a skilful operator who is very light on his feet and agile for a big man and I'm delighted that our cousins across the pond are going to get a chance to watch this on ESPN because the Slick British Gypsy style is obviously the benchmark we measure all forms of slickness by and the Slick Kurdish German style is right up there too.
This is a dangerous fight for Fury. Kabayel is just low enough on the totem pole to not get Fury excited for the fight and just good enough to beat an unmotivated Fury. If Fury fights to the level of his opponent like he normally does when he isn't facing champions then he might see an upset.
I prefer to see young unknowns like Wallin and Kabayel get a shot Than proven but shotworn and old fighters like Pulev & Povetkin. For no crowd fill in fight it's acceptable. I think Kabayel is a pretty tough customer and can handle himself in a ring. It will show whether Fury has really developed his power & finishing ability. Fury could easily come unstuck and look like a powder puff puncher again. He isn't a natural puncher.
Kabayel is a very respectable title defence. This fight is like Ali vs Karl Mildenburger or Lewis vs Zeljko Mavrovic People will remember Mavrovic nearly snatched the WBC title clean out of the arms of Lennox Lewis. Credit to Fury for taking on a challenge rather than facing some soup can nobody ever heard of
