WHAT? Dino, Mildenburger was the 4th, 5th and 9th ranked ranked ring magazine contender in 1965-1967 https://boxrec.com/media/index.php/The_Ring_Magazine's_Annual_Ratings:_1965 https://boxrec.com/media/index.php/The_Ring_Magazine's_Annual_Ratings:_1966 https://boxrec.com/media/index.php/The_Ring_Magazine's_Annual_Ratings:_1967 Kayyel is not or never was RIng Magazine ranked. He's 15th ranked " WBC " and world rated at #36 by box rec ratings. That's who Fury is fighting. A respectable title defense you say? This is a joke of a title defense. No one really heard of Kabayel until Fury said he might pick him. He is a soup can to 95%+ of the boxing fans. Fury low balled him and is giving Kaybayel just one day to sign, and about 4 weeks tp prep. Get real. Even Fury fan boys know this is a crap title defense. He's picking a regional level guy who can't punch hard. Gee, I wonder why. PS: I'd like to read that offer letter. Legaly speaking I bet there is no VADA Testing, so Fury if needed can pass it.
The fact that he has never been ranked in anyone's top 10 says it all, and 15th in the "WBC" is a joke. Box Rec has the only rankings that I am aware of that extend past #20, which is where the typical Fury title defense opponents can be found! Even Wallin who wasn't very good was rated past 40 at Box Rec, yet he cut up Fury as if he were Freddy Kruger. A re-match with hm would have been much better. If you have other rankings that extend past 20, let me know and I use it. Otherwise Box Rec is it. If you think Kayayel' stock dropped do to inactivity, he fought this July. Not buying it ShovelHook. Fury is hiding British glass and PED abuse, and not even giving Kabayel much time to prep. Schwartz, Wallin, and now Kabayel? This is not how the lineal heavyweight champion of the world should be operating! A very close decision win over Chisroa is the best Kabayel ha's ever done. You're right he can't punch, a big reason why he was selected! Un-defeated? Meaning what? There are 30 heavyweights or more in boxing that can make that claim.
In other words, you'd never heard of him, because the only heavyweights you're interested in are the ones RING magazine tells you about in their ratings ...... and former world class amateurs from the old Soviet/East Bloc countries. Kurdish/Turkish/German fighters don't interested you, I assume. His face doesn't fit. Kabayel is credible. He hasn't face many top opponents, but he has a clear win over Chisora 3 years ago ..... y'know, the same gatekeeper Chisora that people are STILL using as a heavyweight benchmark for people like Usyk ! If Kabayel had fairer skin and a Slavic name you'd be riding his dick, to put it bluntly.
Hardly the worst opponent he could get as a last-minute replacement. Frankly, the Chisora win from a few years ago makes his resume more legit than a lot of guys who are available this late. Would I have preferred Michael Hunter? Sure. But I'm not going to **** and moan for this opponent.
And that's what I distain about modern heavyweight world title matches. Wilder took belt milking to new level. Fury its seems is following his act. Schwartz, Wallin and now Kabayel. A joke. thats 3 of his last 4 title defense with Wilder, who won't be remember fondly and is embrassing himself at the other guy, I don't know who's better between Breazeale or Kaybel. Maybe Kabayel is the better boxer, but Breazeale who had no business getting a title match either at least could punch some, giving him a chance. Fury is playing it extra safe vs a guy independently ranked outside the top 30. Joshua at least fight ranked guys in Povetkin or Parker.
Apologies in advance if this question has already been answered elsewhere... Is there a deadline for agreeing this fight? It's less than 5 weeks away. Is there a ruling which states the minimum amount of notice that a fighter can be given for a world title challenge and is there also a minimum amount of time that contracts need to be agreed etc ahead of the fight?
Love how people criticize & get angry about Fury's opponents No crowd, step in opponent. Doesn't change the fact Fury is going to retire with dominate victories over Wlad, AJ, Wilder, Whyte, Chisora and more. Prefer to see him jab shotworn Pulev/Povetkins nut off? I'd prefer to see some young blood.
You're defending this? Really . Kabayel skin tone had nothing to do with it, how dare you. He's simply not that good. Period. Usyk is on his way up, angling for a title shot and clearly better than Kabayel. If you must use Chisora as the benchmark between the two tell me who is better. PS: I said the same thing on Schwartz being a rip off title defense who was born in Halle an der Saale, Sachsen-Anhalt. That's east Germany, or as you put it, Soviet/East Bloc so once again your 100% wrong. This crap is on Fury, he could have selected much better.
Yes, as lineal champion that title is on the line any time you step in the ring. Fury often reminds us he's the lineal champion.
Fair enough Its a load of bollox though He only used it during his come back as leverage with AJ being a champ and BT needing a promotional tool to sell fights
Is there no ruling at all giving a challenger a certain amount of time to prepare for a world title fight and for the contractual stuff to be arranged??
I would argue that AJ is actually the lineal champion and became the lineal champ for the first time when he won the rematch against Ruiz. I think I gave my reasons on here a while ago.
