He did better than anyone else against Gamboa ever. He'd smoke Loma like a blunt and roll his azzzzzzzzzz.
I always thought he was a basic fighter, he’s good but there’s been plenty of guys like him before and more will most likely come after
He's just unpolished. He's got skill but tries to be a little too perfect and hasn't perfected his timing. Definitely not ready for Teofimo but I still think his skills will bring him success. Gamboa wasn't easy to look good against tonight.
He's not a great counterpuncher, doesn't have great timing. Hesitant to throw combos too. He just seems way too averse to the idea of having to take a shot to give one. He looked skinnier for this fight too, lost even more pop. Doesn't have very creative use of angles either, it's all straight in and out. He's extremely basic and not worthy of the hype imo. Good jab and distance control but that's about it. His defence is pretty good due to his feet but his shoulder roll is actually pretty crappy if you catch him flat footed. Basically a bigger puncher with a similar skill level should beat him.
Good skills but needs to wait for his grown man strength before jumping up against monsters who are physically more mature than him at this stage
I haven't watched it in full yet, seen comments on twitter, somewhat divided, with some saying Haney isn't all that, sort of adding his performance against Santiago with this against Gamboa and saying he is a level below Teo, Loma, Davis.. with Garcia having to prove he is that level also. And others saying Gamboa is a lot better than people think, that Gamboa would/could make most lightweights look poor and Haney won by a virtual shut out, he won well. Personally I sort of expected something more, something more explosive, Hearn has been hyping him all week, after Teo had all that hype and exposure Haney was expected to grab some of the limelight himself and he just hasn't, he has left some questions tha need answering.. especially about his power because apparently he landed flush quite a lot and didn't even really trouble Gamboa.
